Great result and nice to keep it interesting for Saturday. Sadly I cannot see both results going our way, although it would be classic City for the results to go our way and us not win!

Overall though it’s been a good finish to the season and has hopefully given GA more insight into what/who we need and don’t need.

 

I can’t see us making it but it would be nice to think we can. But then again @Fordy117 , imagine being in an Istanbul stadium in 2005, would you have left with your team down 3-0 to the Italian champions at half time? See, as unlikely as it is, it’s not impossible. Believe!

This fixture was definitely cursed, after 2 postponements, 1 wasted journey, pointless holidays taken from work, being stuck in traffic for over 4 hours and missing the first 25 mins of the game, ….was it worth it? Damn right!!!! Can’t beat those last minute winners, especially as we have something to play for still

 

That's the frustrating thing for me. Oyegoke committed one on the touchline when all he had to do was close him down tight instead of going to ground. Unnecessary free kicks in dangerous areas is something I hope we learn to cut out. You don't see many by Halliday because he times his tackles, but the centre halves do it far too often.

 

The best thing we can do on Saturday is go all out for an early goal and let the news filter through to the other teams to create pressure.

At least we go into Saturday with something to actually go for and who would have thought that a few weeks ago.

Still think will miss out which simply shows that we have fooked up yet another chance to get out of this league but that debate will come after Saturday or maybe not

 

Our form seems to have improved since the installation of Wright at LWB in my opinion. Having that added technical ability and giving us an additional attacking player on the pitch has enabled us to get on the front foot and retain the ball a lot more. Come what may, I hope this formation is the blueprint for next season and won't be ripped up and started again. I wouldn't be against bringing him to play in this position.

 

Not sure about your Wright theory, I think he has been nothing more than average, quite lethargic compared to his last spell with us, and seems afraid to take on his man, like the Tyriek of old used to do. I'd be more inclined to go with it being down to Pointon starting. Since losing at Harrogate when he only came on as a late sub, we have won 5 and drawn 1, and Bobby has started them all. Not sure what it is - a hungry, young exciting player probably scares a lot of players in this league. Couple that with the crowd chanting his name, probably gives the players such a lift. This has been very visible in the past few games, no more than last night. As the clock ticked towards 90 mins, you just sensed there was another goal in us, particularly when we were all singing "city til I die" at 1-1

 

He is playing wing back rather than out and out winger. More cautious, I think he is a good player and he has helped to lift our game.

Mathmatically yes. Its not impossible is it? Mansfield still playing for 2nd, in great form and Barrow are woeful. Crawley will probably beat Grimsby though - although they won 0-3 at Crewe the other week.

Yes I have no complaints per se about Wright, except I wish he would take on his man more. The amount of times he finds himself in a crossing position and opts to go backwards, often just for Smallwood to waste it, is quite frustrating

Personally I don't think there is much to choose from between him or Gilly in that position, they both do a good job. I just think Gilly shades it with his energy levels. Either way, both are a tremendous improvement on Ridehalgh!!

Good theory on wright. I watched him at Walsall and got a bit frustrated early doors. But he holds the ball up well and always a danger. I like him. Oyegoke frustrates he never really wins a challenge and coughs up easy possession. He has a premier pedigree I exoected more. Smallwood needs to do his job only. No set pieces or worldly balls. The rest are clumsy league 2 centre half’s. The dream is on
