Looking at the teams coming down, a possible 4 from 5 of Carlisle, Fleetwood, Port Vale, Burton and Cheltenham how poor does League 2 look from an away team perspective, especially if we lose the likes of Mansfield, Stockport and Wrexham. Not one of the sides coming down will get anywhere near selling out the away end. That said the league looks as weak as ever next season, no excuses for a manager to get us at least in the playoffs.

But under the current regime and with the current manager, I have zero confidence in us achieving a top half finish, never mind play offs!

You might not want Port Vale to come down. The Rumours that Robbie Williams and Phill 'The Power' Taylor buying them won't go away with rumours that Robbies been talking to broadcasters and streaming services about doing a Welcome to Wrexham/Class of 92 documentary.

Now Robbie and Phil might not have Ryan level money and they won't attract the level of sponsors and access to the same level of new fans but they do have a decent amount of money, they will bring in sponsors they wouldn't get otherwise and they will bring in new fans

I don't think Williams and Taylor have the pulling power or finance of Reynolds and McElhenney. On the negative there are very few decent away days as it is, even worse next season . The positive should be that it's an easier division to get out of. I think the biggest threat will be a promoted Chesterfield from the national league. Most teams from that level have gone on to do well with the momentum they have.

Didn't carlisle just about sell out the away end last season.

Also Chesterfield will bring a few and I'm looking forward to going there, always enjoyed Fleetwood away aswell .
Also remember queuing through the night for away tickets to Burton in the playoffs , what a great day out that was

Yes they don't as I acknowledged but they do bring the pulling power, finance, contacts and glitz that most League 2 clubs don't have (and most League 1). They probably bring more than the Class of 92 do to Salford for example (Outside of Beckham who joined later the Class of 92 don't really have reach outside of football and while Beckham does his Inter Miami connection over shadows Salford so doesn't bring the benefit it should)

Potentially in the same league as Altrincham next season. Decent place for a beer.

To be fair, I think a similar sentence has been said pretty much every season we've been back in L2. Yet we've had a season where Cheltenham, Cambridge and Morecambe went up, followed by Forest Green, Exeter and Port Vale going up and we always seem to linger in midtable barring last year. This is probably the most pointless league to judge on paper, because most of the squads are a much of a muchness, it's just recruiting those key players to make your squad go up that extra gear.

Away ends will be tougher to see full, but will only ever be sold out if a team is doing well at this level. Like I remember Vale packing those ends one year when they were in the top few, then the next time it was like they all came in on a skateboard. Carlisle similar, usually a few hundred tops, but last season when they had something on they packed it out.

Chesterfield and Carlisle and Port Vale will run away with it in my opinion!! They’ve got the financial ambition.

I can see Chesterfield and Carlisle being up there. To be honest, the current Chesterfield squad would probably do very well in L2, let alone who they'll add in the summer.

Carlisle, it depends on who they keep to build on as it sounds like a lot will be out the door. Will they be as happy to throw round 6 figure bids in L2? Probably not. Also, their recruitment plan this year just seemed to be, bid for people with some buzz. Like Armstrong, bidding for him after the Wrexham saga went on and on for him so they pipped before the window started, after he scored 1 league goal for Harrogate in 12 apps and again hasn't made a dent in L1. Same with Lewis, great last season, buzz in the summer with Barnsley, throws £200k at us for a keeper who was statistically the worst starting keeper in L2 so far this season and has carried on his form at Carlisle. Like us, I suspect the Yanks up there might be looking to re-shape their recruitment.

Not sure where this Vale worry has come from? Sounds like their current owners aren't selling and the RW thing was shot down in January. Their current owners last week said there would need to be some reshape if they went down but there are finances there. Fleetwood will be in NL within no time from their current state. Finances seem ruined, they just let anyone worth anything leave in Jan to shape up for L2 football and they are an unknown but I wouldn't be confident they would put up a fight next season.

They tend to view a trip to Bradford as a day out for the beer and curry (Carlisle), which is why they come in numbers, direct on the Settle Carlisle railway.

Of the teams coming down I think Cheltenham will do well as Darrell Clarke has performed a miracle to take over a side with 1 point from 10 games and 0 goals scored to still be within a chance of staying up at this stage of the season. Also already got 2 promotions from this division. With Carlisle they spent money in January but it's got them nowhere, if they don't get off to a good start next season I can see them struggling again as losing is a hard habit to get out of.

People will sell their kidneys to get the chance to see the return of Harry Lewis. I think the club have missed a trick on the season ticket marketing front - or maybe they are waiting for Carlisle's relegation to be mathematically confirmed.

Spin it round and look at what could be if we had done as we should and got promoted
Huddersfield Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham likely dropping out of the championship
At least 2 full houses there would have helped the sustainability no end
But never mind at least we're not Bury !!!!

It would be nice just to have a shrewd owner who has a plan for forward progression. I don't think I would be able to cope with the circus like the one that follows Wrexham about. It is boring and detracts from the character of the football club

Williams isnt too far behind Reynolds. His net worth is £220m and Reynolds is around £280m.

They might have shot it down but the rumours haven't gone away and there have been leaks Robbie has had meetings pitching a documentary to Netflix, Disney, Comcast (who have largely been commissioning shows that air on the Peacock streaming service in the US and on Sky here in the UK), Paramount (which will most likely be Paramount+ & Channel 5 although airing on MTV might fit) BBC, ITV and Channel 4. And seeing as Robbie has already had one about himself on Netflix it seems unlikely to be about his life

It's one of these cases where there is no smoke without fire, it may still be in the planning stage as they might want all the associated things lined up first but it doesn't seem as dead as the club makes out
