Rhodes is independently wealthy.

40k is a wage for a manager at any generic firm. No way he's doing this job, for that money. Why would you? Not a chance. It'll be near, possibly even more than 100k.

 

And Rhodes was a large shareholder. The better the Company performs, the more the stake Rhodes holds is worth.

 

Rhodes and Lawn never took a salary from the club although did take some share dividends

heard a tale he got onto the back of the city vent who were selling city related stuff

I agree with the bottom two, The club should be cracking down on people selling unlicensed City related stuff and also stopping people spreading falsehoods about the club. That is good business.

The top one just has the whiff of amateur hour

 

When it is being talked about Rhodes taking £40k I am presuming it is when he came back to help out rather than when he was the owner so it is only right that he should draw a wage of some sort. Now I can not remember how long he was helping for or how many hours a week he was putting in so it is hard to work out if £40k is high low or what. Plus is that £40k that he got or is that the equivalent if he had worked all year at full time? or all year at the part time hours he did? The number alone means nothing.

 

The middle one whilst I agree, and legally they have every right, just shows how amateurish City are.

There is a market for city gear and merchandise that isn’t just horrible gaudy claret and amber with a big ‘Bantams’ emblazoned across the back

Sparks would’ve been better off working with City Vent to produce better quality gear than we have now, as opposed to further alienating himself from fans

 

The city vent merch was far superior to anything you'll see in the club shop. Maybe if the club sourced quality merch instead of the crap on offer, they wouldn't have to worry about people spending their cash elsewhere.

 

I think that is another big issue here. Either the club aren't clever enough or just can't be bothered selling anything other than official kits and training gear.

Bantams banter and city vent both managed to get decent lines out of city related gear and I'm guessing neither of those parties have retail and production backgrounds.

Some of the stuff like towels, phone cases, hats etc would bring in far more sales than the over priced crap available in the club shop.

Totally agree that we need to get better options in the club shop but it wouldn't surprise me if the club have to crack down on unlicensed products as part of the licensing deal.

 

Got to disagree here. The scarf and hat I bought at Xmas are actually very good quality. Much better than the stuff I have bought in previous years. Though the price was eye watering.

 

What about the guy that sells badges at the top of VP? Hasn't he been fingered by Sparks yet ?

 

Not sure when but the person previously employed by the club wasn’t on great money given the role I was quite surprised and they said in general terms most staff aren’t on what you would think/ I asked how much do you think Sparkes is on (they left prior to him as ceo ) they said 40k as Rhodes was on that approx amount.
