It is what I have been feeling for a couple of years tbh. This slap it down on the counter with a take it or leave it approach is not working. Individual employees I find very helpful, but the lack of communication and a general lack of care for fans is permeating the whole club ethos.

Remember what he said about Adams? 'He was given an opportunity and he failed to deliver'.
Time to look in the mirror Ryan.

His lack of expertise has costs us million in my view. At some point Rupp has to acknowledge this. He is also to blame, while he doesn’t have to fund us, he was happy to just leave it.

Having Sparks as CEO during any VP lease negotiations will be the death knell of this club.

Not quite,it would be far harder to get a lease negotiated if Rhodes comes back.

Pretty sure there wouldn't be any negotiations if Rhodes was involved it would be a firm take it or leave it from Gibb
Rupp needs to send one of his financial advisors across for any negotiations as @mrtrickio@mrtrickio says it could well finish us

Preferably not the advisor who advised him to partner up with Rahic and buy City

Yep. Gibb wouldn't even have to negotiate. The current lease provides the Club with an option to extend the lease on its current terms. If the club wanted to do anything different whether that's reducing the lease or having some kind of tiered approach, it would need to 'persuade' Gibb that the FLPF should agree to the changes in their own best interests. Fat chance if Rhodes is anywhere near to the deal!

Exactly what I'm saying Ryan's position at our club is over.
He will never win the fans trust or respect ever again the damage is done.
Rupp installed Ryan to run the business from afar and he's failed on so many levels.
Every appointment every ticket campaign, Catering franchise,Kits and the fiasco surrounding a foreign travel partner just a small sample all littered with problematic issues. Why who's to blame?

Seriously, this club has no Board, no structure of governance beyond an inexperienced CEO to oversee critical functions and responsibilities of the club?

    That explains much.

No wonder we're in such a mess. Its incompetence and neglect of the highest order, and Stefan Rupp deserves to lose every single penny of his purchase price.

The club does have a board. Indeed it has two; one for each of the companies. But their purpose is simply to comply with the legal responsibilities of the two companies. That means in practice only one or maybe two meetings of the board are necessary each year. A quick look at the companies' Articles and Memorandum shows that the Board, such as it is, has no formal role in the appointment or removal of any employee including the CEO. By omission, that's ultimately down to the owner. There's nobody else involved. If Rupp wants to get rid of Sparks, he can do so and the terms of that will be defined by what's in Sparks' employment contract and Rupp's good nature.

The more important issue imo is the lack of governance or oversight and that most day-to-day stuff rests with a CEO who is out of his depth when the going gets tough. That's how most of our problems originate imo and will continue to do so whilst Rupp retains his hands-off philosophy.

This is a dreadful way to manage a multi million pound company/business.

Very helpful. I'm genuinely stunned. Rupp has entrusted the entire running of the club to a novice CEO, without any football expertise above the manager, and no form of checks, balances and governance to help steer the healthy and effective running of the club. And this is the result.

How the hell has Rupp achieved ANY success in business? Would he run any of his other business interests in such a way?

@wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler - how can this manner of operating a football club have any justification, and what have the Associate Directors done to challenge this approach?

I'm sure that Sparks holds weekly or so management team meetings but they're not Board meetings! I assume they'll be focused in general terms on how the club is achieving against the objectives set my the owner - are the books in balance and where are we in the league? Oh yes and how's the implementation of the new ticketing system going?

You referred to Associate Directors. Do they have any role in the direction and management of the club? Isn't it simply a courtesy title or some might call it a vanity title for a few fans who are willing to pay a sizeable amount for that privilege? Good on 'em for doing that but they seem to be distant from the routine running of the club. Maybe with their collective experiences, they could offer some support to Sparks but I've seen or heard nothing which suggests that is done routinely.

My question is a simple one really Dennis; it's certainly not aimed at you and you'll have to forgive the language as emotions are high: Does anyone at this football club have any degree of competence or f****g integrity?!

The amount he’s defended Rupp and Sparks I’m also interested in hearing this justification, tbh I’m trying not to interact with him at this moment. Anyone with his sort of influence shouldn’t have defended this shitshow over the last 7 years and it angers me to be quite honest, I hold those who could make a difference but defend it or keep quiet culpable as well.
