Where Do We Go From Here ?

We do what we do every season. Rebuild the squad after another disappointing season, say the right things in pre season about quality over quantity, then bring in a bunch of crap loanees and build a squad with no distinct plan in place and have another underwhelming season whilst bemoaning our bad luck with injuries and a terrible pitch.

GA does seem to have a tactical system in place so he might recruit sensibly around that setup. However, Hughes had a tactical setup last season and then changed the tactics and recruited a load of players that didn’t fit into either system. So who knows.

 

Nailed it ..........this kind of thread will be back on here in 12 months ..........get the recruitment right and GA may have a chance but while Gent is still there then nothing will change ............ decent deals handed out to over the hill shite ........loan deals for players that struggled at Hartlepool its justva never ending roundabout

Don’t forget the last minute loan signings….who star in their own videos, tell the fans what they are good at,,strengths, skills etc, come on for their debuts on the 69 minute mark…..and are never seen again.

 

It would be nice to think it won't be the case this time... But the club would be saying so, surely.

GA isn't Hughes and he knows the division. Start the season with him and we'd be in the play-offs. He's a Parky type who knows his onions and also isn't afraid to drop players when they don't do what he asks.

Let's face it, it's the terrible first dozen games that killed us - when players heads were shot when Hughes stupidly decided to go to a system he hadn't a clue how to operate. I

The defence, even after the FGR debacable has been one of the best, in terms of goals per game conceded. Evolution, not revolution is what's needed for the squad.

Despite us looking terrible for 75% of the matches, we are not far away simply because League two quality is generally shite. I'm watching the Salford v Stockport match - which is one of the better L2 matches and yet both teams still look like we often are - spectacularly ordinary.

My only frustration is that we're failing when this must be the worst L2 league since we got relegated.

 

Who signs them all off? Our CEO.....Who said on Radio Leeds that there is no need for a DOF or similar....

Yea Chris the way he plays. He reminds me of Bryan Robson mate. Injured mostly doing things and tackles he cannot make. I don’t do glue too sticky. . I like Walker but injured too much.

 

I hadn't realized he'd actually ruled it out, I didn't think he was so arrogant.

It's a real shame because they obviously recognized Jamie Walker is a key player who is often out - so they brought in Pattison, who instantly became another sicknote.

So we just didn't have a competent attacking midfielder for long spells.

Personally, I don't think that's one that we can pin on the recruitment, but I wouldn't keep both Walker and Pattison for next season, I'd look for someone else who might stay out of the treatment room.

He says "I don't think it's been necessary", which is just remarkable.

Absolutely incredible that someone can be that headstrong and deluded despite bringing zero success to this club on the pitch.

Success on the pitch seems very much secondary to remaining sustainable
Why would he appoint a DOF when in Rupps eyes he's doing a great job ensuring he doesn't have to put his hand in his pocket all is Rosey and as I have said before and one particular poster vehemently argues against it the only way things will change is if we deprive them the funds to remain sustainable
Am well open to other ideas from him as yet not seen any !!!!

I certainly think we are heading in the right direction under Alexander, since he's come in we are 6th in the table with 33 points from 20 games so clearly we are doing something right. The key for him next season will be how we turn the home draws into wins. With the season being over now I hope he uses these last 5 home games to experiment with different methods on the pitch and off it to improve the home form. The obvious way to improve that is by scoring more with only 13 goals in 11 home games with only 5 teams scoring fewer at home in that time.
