Not seen it Kev but it looks like my sort of humour, I'll have to see if I can get the series on catch up, I used to enjoy Never Mind the Buzzcocks but the modern stuff as Fordy would say is sh1te, yes I'm old fashioned why do most panel games have to have expletives every other word, the guy from Batley although he quotes Leeds is IMO a perfect case of someone with little talent if you take the swearing out Celebrity Juice being a perfect example.

Now that snip is funny, when I was made redundant I spent the last 10 years as a caretaker at Stocks Lane School and part of the previous caretakers duties was as a lolly pop man on Highgate Road, I love kids but that was not for me.

Don't think he's singling out Cook as such mate, more the style of play we play when Cook is in the side.
It becomes a hoof, or long balls up to him, some of which he wins by flicking on, others where he is nowhere near due to a lack of movement.
In the Wycombe game, with Cook out, it was really refreshing to see the ball being played on the floor (as it should be!) Plenty of movement, energy and passing the ball man to man with urgency.
Wouldn't have played that way with Cook in the side.
Perhaps it's worth a go to see how it pans out with Cook on the bench?

I'm not disagreeing entirely, Bronco. I just think that if we play Cook we have to accept his limitations and tailor the team accordingly. Or not play him and adopt a different style. He certainly can't play on his own up front as was essentially the case last night. The system effectively played Kavanagh and Wright out of the game as GA eventually realised. There'd be an argument to play 442 as we ended up yesterday, with Gilliead and Smallwood as the central two, Oduor or Chapman on the left, Wilson on the right and Kavanagh and Cook up front. Or a system based on mobility up front which wouldn't include Cook. What we can't continue to do is play people who belong in different systems. That’s what brought about Hughes' demise and also what we had last night.

The problem with the Wycombe performance though was that despite creating some decent opportunities and flashing multiple crosses or balls across the box we barely looked like scoring.

It's fine to say let's play a different system and style as it suits our players better but if you take Cook out of the team we simply can't replace his goals.

Perhaps it could be addressed in the summer but certainly not this season with our current options.

I know he wasnt picking Cook out in fact he was replying to my earlier post with regards why we cant play in a similar way to as we did against Wycombe, as I said Odour was outstanding in that game and playing him in the position he played last night IMO reduced his and our creativeness.

I very much doubt Alexander has the players playing two ways we aren't good enough and using the Wycombe game as an example is fine, but for all the good football we played and chances we squandered we lost the game because we had no one with the ability to stick the ball in the net.
His goal scoring exploits aren't as good as last season Cook will, miss guilty edge chances who doesn't (Haaland) last Sunday against United and this guy is as good as it gets with regards out and out strikers.
I'm agreeing up to a point with Dubious but I honestly don't believe last night performance was down to Cook being selected, we can all put forward out ideas/thoughts on our present situation but I think most would agree in the majority of games both this and more so last season if Cook didn't score we found it hard to win and in all honesty have things changes much this season, you only need to look at our other attacking players stats to tell us, Alexander had a few problems with the squad last night I believe he played Cook because of what I've said above with regards our lack of cutting edge against Wycombe but also losing the creativity of Odour was a major factor, I don't think playing Cook is an excuse for the way we went about the game last night.

I can see the point your making, as it stands Cook has never been in a promotion winning side in the football league, if he manages to do it with us it would be a first for him. The lad can hold his head high with his scoring record while at Valley Parade, wether he's the answer to us getting promoted going forward remains to be seen. Like any potent striker you have to play to their strengths to get the best out of them, wether that means you get the best out of the rest of your squad by doing it is open to debate.

With Smallwood back after suspension my team would revert back to same back line Walker, Halliday, Tomkinson Stubbs, Kelly McDonald and Smallwood siting with Odour in front of them allowing Cook and Kavanagh to continue building their partnership.
We know basically it's sh1t or bust to get back into the mix but we have plenty of attacking options on the bench, as it looks like Pointon is not going go get game time even off the bench we have Smith, Wright,Wilson, Chapman, Doyle, Richards, Ridehalgh possibly Platt.

My neighbour at the match last night said a friend had seen Platt running at the training ground working with coaches this week. He said that he didn't look anywhere near match fitness, going quite slowly. Could be a week off.
