We deserved to lose based on the 1st half alone. The referee wasn't the reason we defended so badly for their goal or the reason we had 6 shots all match or the reason our passing was so bad or the reason why they bullied us in midfield winning nearly every 2nd ball.
We were very fortunate we were playing against a team who didn't have a great amount of quality in the final 3rd, if we play like that against Mansfield then they could be on for a new biggest win of the season.

Their goal came from a punt upfield from a free kick that should never have been given ...

8 draws at home also is so bad when it comes to points accumulation.
Should never be drawing 50% of your home matches if you want to be successful.

I admit I was excited by the starting line up because I assumed Oduor would have been told to get forward with the ball at every opportunity but in fact he played as a defensive midfielder it seemed to me which was crazy. Either GA told him to play like that or he just couldn't get into a new role. Either way GA should have changed things around and moved him to his usual position, as a number of us said at half time, but he never did. As a result we had no attacking play to speak of until very late in the game. Kavanagh and Wright got no service at all and Cook was in one of his useless moods which he seems to easily lapse into when he knows there is no competition for his place. Young's injury means he'll always play whatever. It's interesting that we played so well when he wasn't present against Wycombe.
And our only tactic when he plays is to get the ball wide and look for crosses. We create nothing through the middle of the pitch and we desperately need Pattison, or someone like him, to drive forward and both create and also be a goal threat.
I also thought that Chapman and Mitchell played very well when they came on and gave us a different dimension, as did going to a back four.
Lots of food for thought for GA after last night.
Finally, I agree the Wright signing was a PR exercise. The lad looks gone.

These kick-off's get my goat ahar, why knock the ball all the way back to the 'keeper or central defenders (the 'keeper last night) only to have the ball wellied up field where it becomes a 50/50.
For goodness sake pass the ball to a team mate and keep possession!
Or is that too hard to understand?

Which, looking at the replay, was offside Park.
What was the linesman doing at that side, asleep?

We’ve had championship winning form in the last 4 games taking 10 points. We’d win the league easily with those results all season. However I do agree we’re not good enough certainly in attack. The play off hopes died when Walker and then Pattinson hobbled off at Doncaster just before Christmas. We have missed the goals they would have scored badly.

I coach an u16s side and got the last 3 years the lead coach has instilled into them to not go all the way back from the kick off as you're losing 50 yards immediately. It makes sense to me anyway.

Well the roads were far from clear on our way down, we started down Manchester Road got as far as the Bod (for guys of a certain age) thought we'd pull off and go in front of the Skating rink, that was solid so finished up going up Shearbridge in front of Bombay Stores down past the Fighting *@?$ at least traffic was moving, I posted on here it was a nightmare and @Storck@Storck said he belied there was an accident with possible fatalities but cant find anything in the T&A I thought it might have been the start of Ramadan or Eid, I can't remember the last time I was late to a game it completely through me off my pre match routine then we had to put up with that first half performance ;).

It was a stupid free kick to give away, no need to touch him there. The ball went from 1 end of the pitch to the other without 1 of our players touching the ball, you can't hide behind the referee when we had plenty of chance to defend it. Whether you want to beleive it was a free kick of not, Stubbs lost an aerial duel, McDonald didn't track the runner, Kelly sat too deep and then Halliday tried to play offside when it wasn't on rather than going with their player. 4 chances we had to stop the goal and WE didn't

Another night the club was too embarrassed to give out the "attendance" at the game.

    Becoming a common theme

Yes agree NM. I much preferred the old kick off when all players had to be in their own half and the ball played forward.
This kept the ball in possession and moving into the oppositions half, ball on the floor - a lot better.
Still the ball on the floor is, by the looks of it, not in BCAFC's make up!
