Been going since 1994 and I’m saying:
    Clarke
    Schwarzer
    Walsh.

It certainly was a strange set of transactions. Fortunately we were beneficiaries.

Hard to remember. As I said in a post last week, I have been watching City vids from the late 90’s and Gary Walsh pulled off some truly exceptional saves. He was probably the best I have seen in City colours . And that is going back too many years to recount.

Far too many to mention. In hindsight, Lewis isn't even top 20.

    My top five

    Downsborough
    Walsh
    Tomlinson
    Davison
    Duke

Echoing Selby, I was a really young lad at St. Clare’s when we signed Pat Liney, I always wanted to be like him. So I guess he was my favourite but I can’t get beyond Peter Downsborough as the best we have had. He always seemed to be so far above the normal level for the time.

I saw downsborough and liney when I was young but I think Schwatzer was the best for me.
Liked Jonny Mac and Duuuke also

Southall was probably the best to ever wear a city shirt, just a shame we didn’t have any big enough to fit him at the time

Top 3 by some distance in no particular order is Walsh, Clarke and Schwarzer all three premier league goalkeepers. Then followed in 4th place by Peter Downsborough and 5th Paul Tomlinson. I’d then have Henderson, McManus , Ward and McClaughlin before Harry Lewis.

Very true on loan he was brilliant when he signed he was poor. Just remembered I’ve also forgotten England keeper Jordan Pickford though he was just a loanee but he must get into maybe 5th place.

Downsborough - hands like shovels, didn't always wear gloves, and always seemed cheerful even when he was getting battered without the protection modern goalies get. He was not just favourite here, either. He was Swindon supporters' player of the season the year they won the League Cup. He was a great keeper - probably amongst the very best for his height. If I remember rightly, he was under 6 feet tall.

That's right, he was small for a keeper, therefore favoured punching the ball, which he did with great aplumb.
Also true, he didn't always wear gloves, I recall in the 70's I ran on the pitch at full time with my autograph book, he happily signed it and aplogised for the poor writing as he said his hands were freezing.

Exactly mine, Clarke was sensational... shame it didn't work out for him in the end
