Taylor the raging debate

Now, I am worried

 

If we are all saying Taylor is the new Bobby Moore we are done a bit like Patrick?

 

He was only dribbled past once in that match and that was for the sending off in addition to 0 dribbles past against Accrington.

 

But has played in a side with 3 clean sheets in a row.

Well clearly it does matter, as if you are in space on the football pitch in the final third it's a clear goal scoring opportunity, covering defenders stopping you a clear run on goal therefore comes into play not whether you can get a shot off from 40 yards out

 

He didn't get dribbled post for the sending off either. He just made an absolute *@?$ up of clearing the ball then stupidly pulled him down.

 

So now, because we're struggling to point out any of Taylors obvious strengths we're going down the complete nonsense route and pretending that we know his communication is excellent?

Firstly, you've no idea if it is or it isn't. Even if you could hear him from the stands it could be absolute nonsense he's shouting.

Secondly, positioning? That is absolutely one of Taylors absolute worst attributes! It the thing I've been hammering him for most and something that causes him to be such a liability given that he doesn't have the pace to bail himself out like some defenders.

 

Taylor’s strengths are his pressing and supporting the attack which is why I think GA likes him. Whether that makes up for his defensive frailties I don’t know

 

I'm not sure this hatred of Taylor is good for your health. I'd leave it if I were you.

You do know he's the centre half don't you? You're not getting mixed up with Walker or something?

 

I'm in great nick. This is like the Halycon days of taking on the Zesh Rehman fan club but without them having the easy "you're a racist" response.

So far we've had,

He's a great organiser (guess)
He's got great positioning ( )
He's good at pressing (must be his pace)
He's good at supporting the attack (WTF)

I'm just waiting for "presence", "great in the dressing room" and "offers something we don't have" to complete a full house.

 

To be fair, he's an average L2 centre half, no worse no better. Zesh Rehman was barely a pub player.

 

He has the speed of the blob and turns like a super tanker and he looks like he loves a doner

Fair point. I'm still unconvinced, but this description is probably on the money. Problem is we could get back Yann to do that!!

 

Or we could stop cherry picking and show the full facts which are that it's 18 goals conceded in the other 10 games he's been involved in and that even included Grimsbys reserves and Barnsley's kids in 2 of the games. Without these last two clean sheets the figures are horrendous!

League games only and it's 14 goals conceded in his 8 appearances.

 

I agree here. I could see him in Barrow's 'though shall not pass' back line and looking perfectly fine - because they are set up to be 100% defensive.

He's never going to make it in a three at the back system as mobility and passing the ball is vital and all three defenders need to be at least 6/10 in that department. Minimum 5/10. Taylor is 4/10.

 

He was terrible in the first half against Accrington, but he was good in the second.

I'm someone who gets accused of overtly defending players, but I think he's too skittish to be playing in a back three - whilst admitting he's not the worlds worst defender.

 

Ah, "the manager knows more than me" line. I'd forgotten about that one but it's just about the laziest point people can make on a forum.

Stuart McCall probably knows more than me but not only did he pick Zesh Rehman, he also made him captain. Every manager makes a mistake and regardless of whether I'm a pro manager or not it doesn't mean I'm automatically wrong if I disagree with one.

In fact, plenty of people on here have often been proven correct over time with opinions that are contrary to the manager at that time.

 

He made one mistake against Accrington and they fluffed it. You can't say he was terrible when they had one shot on target.
