Next manager

Mark Hughes did exactly that in his second season in charge, every Bradford City fan who saw us prior to him getting sacked could see the players were uncomfortable with what he was asking them to do. you have to ask why couldn't Hughes.

 

On a serious note, there was apparently a sky 1-1 interview with Cowley ( Mon/ tues?)

“In the interview he mentioned it was thinking about his 14 year old daughter”

I’m glad he did tell us because we now know that the club have been trying to appoint but have been let down at the last minute.

 

So we've reached page 200 on this thread and we still have no idea who our next manager is going to be or when we are likely to appoint one.

 

Well the plans to date have seen us rooted in Div 2 . The club has had an absence of any strategy that it has stuck to for what ever reason.. For me we need a well communicated strategy, plan - ( no sound bites) something the majority of fans can and will sign up to.

 

At least we don't have a midweek game next week, but you'd hope we get a guy signed over the weekend so he can start at training Monday and have a full week before Barrow.

We also have 9 L2 games until the window opens. Not exactly a huge amount of time to evaluate such a large squad as ours and see what business the new manager would want. Massive first few weeks for a new starter.

 

Trueman did say yesterday that his appointment was definitely only “short term” so maybe not long to wait

 

I'd be fully on board of some building years. However, as you state above, that line of 'we need a well communicated strategy'..... communication and strategy seems to be something we have massively lacked as a club for a fair few years now. Trusting the current setup to successfully tell the fanbase the plan is the hard part.

 

Looking at the available managers, I’d be thinking what’s the rush? Give MT the job until someone becomes available who’s suited to us, or get a recruitment team in to scout further afield. Kneejerking after Cowley has binned us off could not be a good thing.

Agree with you Jordan, the problem of social media being a driver of “instant success” won’t permit that to happen unfortunately.

 

Looking at the list I'd he happy to wait but from the statement made and also Trueman in the press assuring it's only a short term stint, it points to us making a decision on one of the bunch fairly soon.

There's already a narrative going on in the fanbase that the club have no idea what they want. If say next week we now go back against Sparks' statement and give it to Trueman on a rolling setup for example, it just paints an even bigger picture of us trying to make it up as we go along.

 

Then come clean, be transparent and get some credibility back. “Cowley turned us down, so we’re not going to rush into it, and we’re waiting for the correct applicant who suits our remit” sort of thing. I’d give them their dues if Rupp/Sparks came out with that.

 

I'm a city fan that went to school in Ilkley and I haven't got a scooby doo what's going on.

 

But what would our 'remit' be?
