This is long watch, but very interesting from Artell.

Genuine question, who interviews the prospective managers? Is it just Sparks? Does Rupp get involved or do we have a recruitment panel?

 

He’s come in a point in the few seconds since @Jordan posted his odds.

 

Now we are talking. He sounds like he should be interviewed. All I say is the club need to be honest with the fans about promotion.

 

Looks like Barton uses a 433 or 4231 mainly. Dabbled with a 442 and 5 at the back at Bristol but neither lasted long. Was sacked this season as the owner thought he used the budget badly in the summer and assembled a poor team. Seems to have assembled a squad of either really young or over 30s. So his 2 keepers were both 20, CBs are 21, 22 & 34. LBs 22 & 36, RBs 21 & 32. Same story through the squad with experienced heads like Scott Sinclair (34), Chris Martin (34) & John Marquis (31) leading the line with a 19 and 20 year old backing up.

Probably went too much in the way of one old head one young head per position, cant be a healthy balance.

 

I just think he is the wrong manager for us. He is unpredictable and what we need is sound steady as you go type of manager. My head has been turned by David Artell just think he is exactly what we need. He builds a team rather than the haphazard recruitment we have if late. Plus he knows how to bring on young players. He was their Acadamy Manager and 1st team manager. I have always had a lot of time for Crew good footballing side.

What's his successes? Salford winning the National League & Motherwell into Europe?

 

Are all his recent legal troubles behind him now? Think he had 2 or 3 trials coming up at one point

 

Pretty much. Fleetwood promotion in 2014 too and was L2 manager of the month in August this year, indicating how badly it went for him in September at MK. Got Scunthorpe into the play off too I think in L1?

From reading up on him he seems very stubborn. He gave MK a month with their new squad with little instruction, tried playing a press. Then from September he told them he wanted to play possession based football and try play teams off the park and it just didn't work leading to his sacking. Weird thing is, MK will have the same squad playing possession football under Williamson and played us off the park. Looks to have a bit of a my way or the highway mentality with his squad.

 

Artell sounds good still think Richardson is a good pick but he is favourite for Lincoln
