Never, you are a Bradford city supporter for life.
I have been clapping hard since the 70's , we were shit then we are shit now. Just the way it is.

It's been mentioned a few times, but I'm not sure being "second choice" is a big deal for managers - they are all über-confident, which is why they are involved in football and put themselves in such precarious positions / a position with such a short lifespan. They all appear to believe they are the one who can turn round a club, they can put in the changes needed to kick start a run of form. As KM showed (especially vs Wrexham), we're not too far away from being a decent team if we get things right.

By nature managers are almost always second choice, since the first choice was just sacked. Taken to ridiculous extremes, Robert Campbell was first choice and everyone since has been second choice of a kind.

It's about being first choice at that moment. Cowley is out, who is the next first choice. I actually prefer the look of the people on the odds list now compared to a couple of weeks ago.

One could say the Twitter and Facebook nonsense that’s spreading to this forum. Fact-less, unsupported opinion and conspiracy theory nonsense. I’m not the only one to notice.

    As you were.

That Jordan I 100% agree with you. I say from a similar bitter experience. I was in the process of recruiting a key key post. University grad qualifications stuff. The one offered the job declined after 10 days of waiting for a response to the offer, by that time all the other applicants had been told sorry you didn’t get the job! Sound familiar?

    Lesson learned….

blame Ian Dennis as he broke the news. I agree it should all be quiet until they are absolutely in the building.

Whatever Cowley is saying regarding reasons for taking or rejecting jobs, he came and verbally agreed to come to Bradford. At the 11th hour he realised its to big for him. After failure at Portsmouth he clearly didn't want to further tarnish his semi-successful CV, in all likely hood casting an eye Lincoln way, a much easier task for him. We need a man with heart and backbone, evidently and rather surprisingly talk-a-lot Cowley has neither. I look forward to 'welcoming' him to VP should we ever play a team of his.

Despite shortcomings in this current manager hunt, I have sympathy for Ryan Sparks regarding this fiasco with Cowley.

I've no idea which direction the clubs going now for option No2.
However, I've read quite a lot recently on David Artell (Rotherham born), and there's a chap with bags of potential, and after what he had to put up with at Crewe has balls of steel.

But I presume you still filled the job with one of the applicants that had been turned down?
If not did you start the process again?

Thats exactly what will happen at VP.
Football managers aren’t that vain that they will tell a club to fu@k off because they weren’t first choice.
Some get sacked on a Friday and are in a different part of the country at another club by the following Friday.
There could have been a cigarette paper between the interviews.
The club maybe decided Cowley was the one on a tiny detail.
This seems to be the biggest hassle with Cowley dropping out.
That we are 4 weeks on and back to square one.
Whether our next “first choice” is the right choice will remain to be seen.

The news was broken on the Bradford City Facebook page two days ago, however because it was quietly tucked away amongst comments, it wasn't picked up on by the more active forum trawlers.

Of the three who got second interviews, the other 2 eventually declined because the subsidised company flat “ wasn’t subsidised ” enough. (It was London and the only way of being able to cast a wide net due to living costs) It was nearly 30 years ago, I dread to think what it’s like now!

So yes back to square one .

For sure it can still work out and fingers crossed it does. I think the Ange would worked better because of his way of doing things, his methodology and communication has a great rep. Also it was pre-season so you can iron out wrinkles and find your team throughout the summer, whereas our guy will probably join and have a few days of training before jumping into his first game.

I’m as much pissed off with the way the club looks after all this as the next fan but I genuinely don’t know what the club could do.
    They got their first choice
    He accepted.
    He then changed his mind.

Apart from the club tying him to a chair and making him say “cross my heart and hope to die, I will definitely not change my mind” I don’t know what else they could do.

Carefully chosen words so to not A) make himself look silly by giving backword & B) not make the club look silly.

If you honestly believe that he didn't have his wife's agreement before applying then you live in cloud cuckoo land.

He might have been talked out of it by football people. I remember Jim Jeffries saying he never did his due diligence on the club before accepting the job. If he had known we were heading towards bankruptcy he would never had applied. He said many people in English football knew. Would imagine many people in football know how we are run so those with experience who think it’s only time till they find a job don’t fancy it. It’s a chancers job. Maybe only the desperate, those at the last chance saloon and those trying to break in need apply.

If this shat show does n’t force change at the top nothing will. After this week even Sparks must be looking at jobs vacant. Truman may become CEO.

Watched a few interviews on Artell, last night. He's growing on me.
Very much about building a team and improving players so it might not be a quick fix.
I think we'll have less player turnover though. It could work if we accept it's a 2-3 year project.
He's straight talking and has good ideas.
