.. and nothing to do with location!

What must other potential managers think of our club when we have a high turnover of managers, with an absent owner and and no clear vision or direction? Who with any self respect or ambition would want to work for a business like that when there are other possibilities?

    Ha, that's a strange article ...

I can't really understand how this can be the indicator that the club might not be run properly...

I guess it's the straw that broke the camels back?

Was McKeown just not getting any info he felt entitled to, or what? Something must separate this out, because I can't say I'm personally overly surprised by the poor handling and drawn out nature of this appointment.

Gillingham, to be fair, are in the same boat. But for maybe a statement or two more, what's the difference?

I mean... but isn't it kinda obvious they're falling short consistently and just aren't very good?

It's like that article is written by a cartoon character that just got hit in the face by a frying pan for the hundredth time and realised something was going wrong lol

Fully agree. I said something similar maybe a week-10 days back when the list of linked names wasn't really improving. There's a reason the names linked are what they are.

It's not just the club that are carrying out their due-diligence, the managers are also and they know it's an up and down career with very little safety so when you take a job it needs to be right. Anyone worth their money is taking one look at the track record under the current structure and seeing red flags. Every snippet of a Sparks interview he's done is out there, managers and their agents can find in about 15 seconds some interviews with words along the lines of the owner hasn't put a penny into this club (for example) and will have second thoughts.

It is to me, but not to all, it would seem.

The first step in solving any problem is recognising what the problem is.

I've never met the guy, but from what I've seen and heard of interviews with him, I would only take a job working for Ryan Sparks if I were starving and homeless. He's the nearest real life version of David Brent I've ever seen and is clearly drowning in the job he's been asked to do.

We need John Dewhirst to get on a plane to Munich and tell Rupp that he needs to bring in a proper football CEO before we end up with Trueman as manager again.

There aren't many jobs within commuting distance of Portsmouth. I'll be very surprised if the Cowleys aren't appointed by Lincoln City within the next few days.

Danny's rather gushing interview soon after Hughes left certainly gave the impression he'd be happy to manage in Yorkshire. One day the truth might come out. I hope he wasn't all set to be announced at Valley Parade but changed his mind at the last moment in favour of a return to Sincil Bank.

Maybe the Cowleys will prove an exception to the "never go back" rule. They might well succeed again at Sincil Bank. But I believe Bradford City and the Cowleys would have been a marriage made in football heaven; and after the hellish divorces you've been through how sweet that would have been.

Well to be fair to Jason and crew, they probably had similar reservations to the rest of us but decided to be very supportive to the club. They now sense danger to said club, and have decided to air their views.
In my view, being supportive of the club is one thing, but we are not being run properly and if the succession of sackings does not alert you, then this latest shambles most certainly will. Plus if we are now looking like a chaotic run club, we will not attract any manager unless desperate. Is that good enough for this club?

Prospective managers are going to ask what sort of transfer budget are they going to have in January, and with a bloated squad of 30 mainly average players on 2 or 3 year deals there won’t be much opportunity to change things. It’s alright saying send the loanees back but we’re probably committed to having these players for the season. Managers coming in like to revamp the squad but we’re stuck with these players for a while.

im sure within footballing circles we are laughed at the way we are run and operate. Clubs that operate and are well-run succeed, which is why smaller clubs outperform us, well-run businesses/ clubs with an identity.

Some people have tried to justify the long contracts but to me it was just madness and illustrates more than anything the naivety of the leadership. There's no way we're going anywhere with the squad we have so the only solution is to sort it out with an influx of cash. Otherwise we'll flounder for this season and the next. I'm sure prospective managers have raised this and not got a satisfactory answer, which is both worrying and depressing.

If Trueman gets positive results in the next 3 games, I reckon Sparks appoints him as manager on a rolling contract or until the end of the season. It’s just something Sparks would do…

Think it’s plain to see this is not as desirable as some would make out. Truly truly awful regime who are pretty much sucking the life out of fans who love this club.

Shameful that Sparks and Rupp are getting away with this but there are too many apologists for them who don’t demand better and they keep getting away with it.

It’s a poison chalice with no support around you, trigger happy hierarchy, who want you to work in a high pressure gold fish bowl with limited resources.
