Doubt it Jon. From what I've read Bruce wanted all of his back room staff, but the Gills couldn't afford it with the budget so Bruce walked away.

Dan Hargreaves, Bristol Rovers equivalent of Simon Parker reporting that Holden is being considered for the vacant manager role there. BR fans seem as unimpressed as city fans.

If Holden is the man, then he's also keeping his options open as he's spoken to Bristol Rovers regarding their recent vacancy...

There's a whole host of reasons why we've not yet announced our new manager.
It could be all settled and agreed in the background. It could be our target has now himself decided to look elsewhere as there's now a multitude of clubs managerless. If that was the case, its to be hoped the appointment doesn't become a panic one.

Don't worry, neither does Sparks. You're in good company. But seeing as you asked, yes I can.

Someone who has a steel and determination to embrace the pressure of managing the biggest club in the division, but with a humility that prevents them from venturing into arrogance. Hughes, Adam - both arrogant tw*ts. You could see it in their demeanor and language. Someone who can connect with the working class roots of the city and infuse their teams with a work ethic and determination that represents the identity of the fanbase. Someone who can connect on an emotional level with the fanbase and have a likeability factor that fosters good will, support and patience.

But even then, no manager will be set up for success under this Owner and CEO. So its moot.

I think Holden would be a great appointment for Rovers! I hope they don't nab him from us, but I couldn't blame him going to a higher division, far too good for L2.

Despite what you posted, Rupp contributed zilch to the the club during 2019/20 when Covid impacted the club's financials. In fact, in that year we made a significant (for us) profit because of the Govt's furlough scheme, the way in which ST fans pay upfront, the iFollow revenues but above all else, the main payment for the Mc Burnie deal. There was no need for Rupp to cover the Covid loss because the club didn't need it.

He had provided a loan to the club prior to the pandemic to clear up the mess which his former partner had created.

If you have any doubts about this, I suggest you go and check the club's accounts for those years.

What worries me most about Holden is he is a dead ringer for the serial killer (twins) in series three of Luther.

    Is that right? Interesting!

I'm not sure he's any more suitable than Hughes was, to be honest.

On the gills sight the chairman says they have taken the time to get the right one and the fans welcome that. We call the same thing procrastination

You could add someone not afraid of giving the players a kick up the arse, which seems to have been sadly lacking with recent appointments.

Maybe that's because the fans are actually being engaged? And engaged with a narrative that's backed up by the investment and ambition they've shown under new ownership?

BV still offering odds of evens for Holden, so not quite the foregone conclusion some appear to think

We need a footie manager, not a Priest.

You remind me of my son, who once produced a super Bradford player on FIFA 2004 (or around that time) they were rated 100%, because like your super manager, they could do anything.

I mean, the that fact you found Hughes arrogant, shows that you've a very low tolerance - as all he ever did, was speak with confidence. Humility, isn't going to cut it when we lose two on the trot at this club. Loads on here, will be moaning that they have no spark.

We had what you wanted with Bowyer, who just got called uninspiring - fans cheered when he got sacked, even though he left us in one of our best L2 positions in decades.

My favourite for the job is Richardson. I'd have Paul Hurst before the Cowleys or Holden.

But I'd be OK with any of these four.

Blimey if you thought Hughes was negative, Hurst is far more so and a massive no from me..

What's the appeal of a manager just sacked from a team is struggling more than us on the pitch

The Beauty is nobody real knows which makes it all the more interesting. Some good names mentioned and s9 me bad ones! by a number of posters, for my sins I would like Chris Houghton. Done well in his managerial career albeit at a higher level
