I want to see an owner who is willing to invest in the clubs future , not just treading water, however I am probably smart enough to realise until that happens, we remain a self funding club like it or not. It’s his business like it or not. Yes?

Imagine what would happen if you turned up at my house demanding I sell it, do you seriously believe I would, just because you demand I do? Even if you brought 10 of your mates, I wouldn’t be “persuaded” nor “ encouraged” what ever term you want to use.

Looking at Parker's article from an hour ago, interestingly he digs out other managers for their failures, but is surprisingly positive about the Cowleys. Now I don't know if this is me reading into to much, but maybe that could be a hint as to who's getting the job, or then it could be just because Parker's a Pompey fan and knows more about them.

I think he fits as well as the others. But for the first time since Phil Parkinson joined, I'm totally indifferent about which manager we should take one. Although I was very 'meh' about Stuart coming back in 2020.

But it will come down to the manager having the ability to get Swindon and Wrexham type home performances plus Stockport, Mansfield, Newport and Wimbledon away performances out of this team. And nothing like the non-performances in most all of the other matches.

And I said he didn't fail at Salford - He got them their highest ever league position. How is that failure. At Oldham he might as well have been managing Fred Carnoe's circus for all that was going on there. The only FACT as you put it, about Wellens is that he has won two L2 titles in a six year career. What has Holden won ?

 

I'm confused as I'm not certain why you think we can do better than employ a manager who went to to a toxic League 1 club and won nearly half the matches he managed, last season.

Going on the basis, that a manager that's had a poor recent record and so got sacked, makes them unsuited to the job - then Orient should never have taken Wellens or Liverpool Benitez.

Incidentally, I've no idea if he'll be any good or not - but I ain't ruling him out based on his record at a Championship and a League 1 club with ambitions way above, what their finances can afford.

 

@banbrotam how the heck does Holden fit us as well as anyone else?
His style of play has been discussed to death on here and it’s just the same as that of Hughes who was hounded out for it.

 

Well I hope he can get us above half of his matches as wins because if we win 15 of our last 30 we are not getting into the playoffs, even if 10 of the rest are draws.

 

At the time of Wellens been available instead of Hughes, he'd just got sacked for the second consecutive time and won a promotion in a truncated season - which means it has a question mark against it.

Now I think Wellens would have been fine for us. But I also think Holden will be. You use Oldham as an example of a club where it is impossible to manage at and you are correct. Therefore, you have to agree that the same applies to Holden and so his very good second half of last season at that club, shows a talented manager.

I'll repeat. I have no idea who is best for our squad. But that means I've no idea if Holden will be any good.

 

All about opinions . If someone’s opinion is to believe a demonstration will force Rupp to sell or invest , they are wrong and I WILL say so, whether they like it or not. Likewise they are fully entitled to call me out if they don’t like my ideas and opinions.

Just what I've seen on another forum, know nothing for sure hence the "apparently". Guessing someone saw the T&A article earlier, but Holden is the name going around twitter too. Although the same guy posted on Saturday that Danny Cowley was spotted at the Wycombe game, which I think has been confirmed since? But given we play them next Saturday, might have been scouting up?

 

Who ever it is I feel pretty sorry for already. They are on a hiding to nothing before they start after reading this forum.

I for one will give them a chance. A full season and two transfer windows minimum.!

 

Holden's win/ draw stats over his career would give us 62 points in a season. If that isn't MEH then what is. We can do better than someone who has yet to survive a full season in any job before being sacked.
