I think the board have done extremely well over the summer. They have spent (and spent well) given that our income has dropped dramatically for this season as a result of the circa 4K of season tickets that did not get renewed. At the full price of £169 that is a loss of revenue to the club of £676k.

So the board have done their bit.

We, the supporters, now need to step up and do our bit.

Havent lost anywhere near that revenue. What about the 8000+ who have paid an extra £20 each. What about the high no of non renewals of kids who were onlý £5.

I will fully back the board only when the club is a success on the field.

Until then, decent summer of transfers but nothing to suggest promotion with that squad.

We are a football club and the clue is in the name, We will be judged by success or otherwise on the pitch and by results obtained not by the money spent which helps but does not always correlate to success on the pitch,

Other than it being a cliché, what does that really mean?

Put money into the new begging bowl outside VP? Visit the shop and spend lots of money on the merchandise? Buy two pies instead of one? Donate money to the Collins fighting fund? Or maybe you're referring to giving the team our support on the pitch?

If it's the latter then I'm sure that will happen naturally under the right circumstances. Not because the club has assembled a strong squad; not because we have a new coaching team in place; not because our gates are down by 4,000+ fans. But because the team give us something to cheer about and to justify our faith in them. That has yet to be proven if the pre-season was indicative of progress on the pitch although imo the building blocks are there. But it's now down to MC and his team to deliver the goods on the pitch. And if they do so, I've no doubt that we fans will get behind them.

    Bravo, couldn’t agree more.
I’m on board with this, would just like them to do all they can and resolve the Charlie situation with as positive outcome as possible. Given this summers business, I’m confident they will do all they can to ensure this works out as best for the team as possible.

I get your point, but think the OP was perhaps eluding to the fact there is still (understandably) a division amongst some who need convincing of the owners strategy and motives, after last seasons debacle. I get this, but agree with the OP that as supporters we need to put that behind us and give this new breed the support and chance they deserve. Last season wasn’t their doing, however anyone who went to any games from Feb onwards last season (especially the last few home games) would know the atmosphere was horrific.

Time to forget all that and focus on a new and (hopefully) positive season.

Agree. Win, Lose or Draw in the opening fixtures, the Club (Players, Management and Fans) need to show a united front, to drive us to where we all want to be. :)

Edit - Remember Wembley and being stuffed by Swansea - upto the last, City fans out sung their Welsh counterparts. I recall Gary Lineker gushing "Now that is what you call support" on the Live coverage. :)

I don't believe that any disagreement with the direction of the club under Rahic will simply be forgotten or dismissed just because it's a new season with a new squad. But imo it will be set aside for those 90 mins on a Saturday afternoon so long as MC and the team do the business on the pitch. If performances and results don't however improve, then the angst directed towards the owners in particular won't be going away. I want MC and the squad to deliver what most of us want but there are no guarantees and misplaced optimism won't change that on its own.

I agree about stepping up and doing our bit, but don't think season ticket income is down anywhere near that amount, I'd say closer to 250k as a rough guess.

Isn't that the transfer committees job to identify those players?

    Chaps,

Whether it is £250, 350 or 650 is just semantics.

Their income has fallen but the board have still invested.

We now need to do the same. Whether that be pies, beers, tickets, club shop or simply turning up and being supportive.

And not just for 10 games....remember Plymouth last year?

I'm basing my decision on those whom have arrived. I don't have the time nor inclanation to look through available or non available players.

So as a player arrives, If I know him great. If not, t'internet and previous clubs forums forums are looked at.

Taking our squad, I see decent players in Payne, Scannell and Wyke amongst others.

It doesn't set my world alight but I'm more than happy to be proven wrong. Go romp the league, that would be brilliant.

But inexperience, a forward line which is crying out for help (especially if Wyke goes) forms an opinion we will fall short.

Well in my opinion at the moment whilst Wyke is here and in the hope we get a decent replacement if he goes. On paper this is the best first eleven we have had since being back in league one

Why? I keep hearing about best on paper, player X returning will be like a new signing but why this set of players? Cast back 12 months, same excitement around Shay, Jake, Dom et Al.

Like I say Park, hope I'm wrong and your right. Time will tell. No stress.

Yes the forward line is the last and most difficult area to complete. Given the Dennis fiasco if we fail to address the forward area I think this will be strongly criticised. Hopefully we learned lessons and have something in place to cover all scenarios well.
Unless of course we have a cunning plan to storm the league that does not require enough forwards of a good calibre.

All a board can do is spend and spend well. What more do you expect of them. Get 100% behind the team and stop being miserable needy feckers

They've brought in the players. Whether they've brought in the right headcoach is anyone's guess, so we are going to wait to see if the board have done their bit. Signing good players means nothing if the headcoach/manager can't get the best out of them.
