Managers Mr Dependable. We want better, but we are not in charge of selection. AG will make a good stand in player in the squad. If MH wants to play him every match, then the same results will follow.

People judge Gilly by his goals and assists or lack of them and if he was still playing as an attacking midfielder or winger then I would agree it’s not good enough.
But since he came back here he has been transformed into a decent defensive midfielder he is a decent tackler and can carry the ball out of defence and he is a big reason our defence has been so tight in open play.

I am surprised though by the reaction of some supporters. He’s not the best and he’s the model average player, but I’d say he never really let us down last season. For some reason he’s slaughtered more than most, even though he’s never said a bad word about the club and leaves everything on the pitch. If he’d gone, I wouldn’t be overly bothered but he’s here and staying so he’s got my support.

 

Why?

 

Completely unfair bashing of him IMO. Last season he was arguably the most consistent out of the 3 CMs we had in his new role. I agree, if we are looking to progress we should be looking for better than him, but on paper that’s what we have signed in Macdonald and Pattinson.

I watch all games via ifollow and can honestly say he does a lot of unselfish work which rarely gets plaudits as it’s not the glamorous stuff. Morais I also rate as a commentator and analyst of the game and he regularly praises Gillead for his contribution to the team.

I don’t have a problem with this new contract at all.

 

In anybody's opinion who knows anything about the game.

 

Good squad player but not a starting midfielder. If he were to start on a regular basis then it should be right wing back.

 

Thought Gilly was one of our consistent players last season. Never stopped and 100%.

Think people forget what league we are in.

Hughes looks to be doing what Parkinson did, build on a half decent side adding more quality.

If we can stop the late goals and draws that should be a major improvement. Hughes seams to be building a better spine to the team.

Well it’s not because he should know 1 goal and 1 assist all season isn’t good enough

 

If this means there isn’t any space for Osadebe then I'm all for it

 

We have signed two great midfielders (One that scored for fun in an average team ) and kept one that gave us energy last year what's bad about that?​

and that's a braindead post - some of our so called supporters are such a negative miserable bunch

 

Thankfully we've strengthened in central midfield so Gilliead isn't a guaranteed starter anymore. As a squad player, fine.

Can't help thinking now would've been a good time to go our separate ways, however.
