Wish i could retire at 37 years old. I would have been doing something else more enjoyable , for the past 20 odd years.
Professional football , piece of piss. You do not even have to be any good at it , most of our players are actually shite , according to some.

 

Maybe Scot Banks will pick him up at Meadowhall on his way up to re-sign.

If we are playing 3 CBs id suggest we need another 2 in. Wouldnt fancy an unproven Kelly and FCD as our only back ups!

 

Is there room for Jon Spicer in the boot? Oh, and what about Andy Carroll - or is he making his own way up?

 

I think we'll get 1 more in, hopefully some experience given all our CBs are between 23 & 25. With Platt, Stubbs and X CB in the starting line and Odusina and Kelly as back ups.

Interested to see what is in Kelly. Might be inexperienced in England, but has had 144 starts in Ireland across all his clubs. Same ball park as Platt (145 career starts excluding U21 games for Blackburn) and more than Stubbs (123 career starts excluding Boro u21s) and Odusina (90 career starts excluding Norwich u21s).

Worth nothing is we go back 3, that's the system that Hartlepool fans said Odusina turned into a great looking defender using, after looking ropey in a back 4, looked far better in a back 3/5.

 

In his brief cameos Kelly has looked alright, and has a big throw on him too

Easily done tbf! Could be deployed as the sweeper style CB, if Stubbs and Platt do the heavy work?

Would certainly need 5 CBs at least in the squad if we are going for 3 starting CBs. Wouldn't be surprised to see a youth defender see on loan towards the end if we want a 6th for cover or injuries if Stubbs knee flares up again. Have to go back to 2020 for the last full pre season for the lad without a knock or existing injury.

 

One more. Kelly will be fine as back up. And who knows may be Odusina, would be fine in a back three.

It’s indicative of why we find ourselves in league 2 when the bulk of our fanbase lack ambition.
The longer we go on believing that we have no chance of signing the calibre of players like Billy Sharp then we’ll be in league 2 for a long while yet.
He’s been released by Sheffield Utd, he barely got a game last season so his likely destination unless he retires is league 1 or league 2.
I’d assume he’d want to stay North around Yorkshire so who are we competing with?
Barnsley? No chance he’d go there
Doncaster ? Maybe
Mansfield?
Grimsby?

 

Mansfield will help over inflate the L2 transfer wages ceiling once again, so they are a possibility . After all their CEO knows a lot about Football @Fordy. You would easily recognise her….a tad blown up with plastic.!

 

Sharp will still demand high wages, despite his age. If we are going to push the boat out, I'd rather we spend our money on a player like Rodrigues. A signing like that would show more ambition than signing Sharp imo.
