From the press release and comments of other fans on social media it seems that this lad has played about everywhere except GK. One tweet asking what his best position was had 4 different responses alone.

I'm not sure we need a jack of all trades type. I'd much rather we signed specialist players for certain positions but it sounds like we're planning on playing several different formations next year.

Yes, we can only really assess the quality of the squad once the recruitment has been finalised. However, I was hoping that our first new signing was more wow than meh!

I'm not a huge fan of so-called utility players. They tend to prove that they really are a jack of all trades .. and master of none.

My guess is that he is the wide left player who replaces Tyreik Wright.

Billy Sharp can pick him up from Barnsley on his way past.

    Fingers crossed.

Might as well give the back 3/5 a go, worked for every team going up last season and every team that made it to Wembley across the EFL.

Just depends on the tip. Some play 2 up top with a 10 behind or play 2 attacking mids to float in the space behind the striker. I'd prefer 2 up top.

First signing so one of our top targets you would think. Not sure that fills me with confidence for what's to come, as this looks more squad filler than quality addition. Hope I'm proved massively wrong.

Having a bit of a read up on him, sounds like he has the tools to be a threat going forward, just no clue how to deliver on his promise.

Sounds like he has bags of pace though. But his last spell he had 6 games at LWB, 3 at RWB, 2 on left wing, 1 right wing, 1 at centre back and 1 as an attacking mid. Playing everywhere can't exactly help a lad deliver consistently.

Seriously underwhelming but we'll see. And another 3 year deal for an unknown quantity who's hardly pulled any trees up anywhere.

Just hope Hughes can get the best out of him and he does have a impact on games because that didn't fill me with confidence for what Curle had to say.

The people calling it underwhelming are making my day. Let’s face, who’s heard of him?
He’s going to offer competition for places and he sounds versatile which is always good.
A 3 year deal seems odd but he’s 23 so a good age to tie down if he shows his potential next season.

Seriously underwhelming, ask yourself this would he be a signing for the likes of Wrexham, Stockport, county, MK and their ambitions ? Feel like we are back fishing in the shit pool again. Last year felt different in terms of recruitment felt like we pushed the Boat now it feels like we we back to the bargain buckets. Because our coaching is so good we can afford to pick up rough diamonds .

3 years what the hell… is that the only we can tempt. Trying to be positive but massively underwhelming and remember from Ryan’s mouth record commercial revenue I expected better in the budget.

Another 3 year deal.... I do hope throwing these contracts around it doesn't bites us on the arse.

Especially to players that can't get a game elsewhere.

It’s the 6th June!! We’ve signed someone who is only 23 and has played numerous times in the Championship. I don’t care about his spell at Hartlepool. They were in a mess last season. Not a nice place for a young lad on loan to be.
Stop wetting your pants and wait to see what the rest of the summer brings. I bet when the season kicks off you won’t have heard who Wrexhams, MK dons or Stockports left back is. It’s league 2.. who were you expecting?

    Who???

This is what happens when you announce your having a streamlined squad.

You sign levi sutton type players oh he's versatile he can play anywhere, then they can't nail down a starting place.

Oh he's only 23....how many times have we said that before

We might have spent the budget on cooks new contract ;)

Let's give the lad a chance, I expect most of the other signings and some quality in that I hope must be midfield and forward area's.

Without wanting to sound negative, what an utterly underwhelming and - frankly - shit signing

And as for a 3 year deal….wow. This hierarchy really doesn’t seem to have learned any lessons from the past few seasons
