Bang on Park. Been here 3 weeks now, first two unseasonably cool and wet. They’ve had drought so far and golf courses ordered to close tomorrow along Costa del Sol to stop watering. Soon as we arrived it’s p….. down on and off and next week more to come. At least trading pitches should be good.

Eccleshill away 25th July

 

Wasn't it Eccleshill who kicked lumps out of City a year or so back?

 

Yeah I think it was a couple of years ago now, think we threatened not to go there again at one point or at least only sent the 18s.

Of all the local teams that do the rounds I'd have thought Halifax might have had a spot by now but I'm guessing the local constabulary may put paid to that

 

We played the under 19s and Academy players last year in the pre season game.

 

with the club not announcing it I would say it will be another U19s match and any first team players will be those needing minutes if they didn't play against Hull on the 22nd

 

Final pre-season game to be away at Rochdale

 

That's good, we always had a healthy rivalry with Bury, and to be the team that 're-opens' gigg Lane is an honour.

 

Wouldn't we be better off playing more home matches against better quality opposition?

- Signings can get used to the pitch and surroundings ahead of the new season
- Higher quality opposition is better for the team's preparation for the new season

 

Great day out didn't think l would ever get an opportunity to visit Gigg Lane again.
Should be a good atmosphere looking forward to being part of the celebration's accompanying their homecoming.

This is the first game of pre-season which is always purely about fitness before going on the training camp to Spain. We've only got 4 first team games confirmed so far with one against Championship Hull and the other against Rochdale who were in League 2 last year then the game in Spain against a side who could be promoted to the Spanish 2nd division this season. There's still every chance a game on at least one of Tuesday 18th or 25th which last season was a home game against Sunderland.
