It has been said so many times before, but a midfield combo of Clayton and Smallwood and Gilliead offer so little going forward
Banks helped create the lone goal for us and offered the crucial outlet for us, Sky had him as man of the match but for some reason City were making our number 11 MOTM?

Praise for both Stubbs and Crichlow for keeping Carlilse from scoring but this team is going to have to do better next game

we seem to get very nervous. We also have players like Halliday who is a complete waste of space. When you need a calm head, he just leathers it into no man’s land.
I’ll take the result tonight but I really do dislike the way we play.

Mark Hughes football is awful to watch, it really is. No purpose or attacking intent at all.

Im really sick of watching it. While tonight was a good result it was absolutely painful to watch.
I’m looking forward to 3 months off.

Good win albeit a poor performance. Constantly giving possession away. Thought the ref was good.

Quality set piece delivery from Moxon, was their only genuine threat. You can see why he has 16 assists. We are too passive and settled for 1-0.

We looked very ordinary there. Crichlow was busy tonight.

Dont see us lighting wembley up, or Brunton park. at least we didnt concede.

Good result but not sure it will be enough. Both sides aren't very creative, a draw would have probably been a fair result. Banks stepped up to the plate tonight, really looked a higher level player and the rest put a shift in. Just disappointed we didn't go for it second half, we might well regret how negative we were second half agaisnt a spirited but limited side.

Big problem is both smallwood and clayton have no legs at all. Should be one or the other not both.

They had 1 shot on target, having said that we only had 2, the way we started I thought we could win the game comfortably but their no mugs, I'd have preferred more than 1 goal but they have to come at us at their place
I didn't understand why they went route one as once they got the ball down they had plenty off runner of the ball.
A mention for the crowd they got behind the team from the first minute great atmosphere.

After seeing attendance biggest winners tonight were salford getting a quarter of that gate money.

Absolute con with gates they get.

Spot on. Although, I have a harsher view. The lack of intent once we went 1-0 was piss poor. 20k fans given nothing to seize upon to build momentum after that. Its gutless football.

His profile from the premier league days is the same. No risk, pragmatic, static, role based football.

yes true and id probably rather see Clayton, they nearly scored from a dodgy Smallwood pass, completely underwhelming.

That was a grim watch, even from sunny Mallorca.

Have to be much better second leg, can't see us keeping a second clean sheet. They peppered us second half. Stubbs and Crich did well but on another day one or two of those crosses end up in the back of the net. Especially if Edmondson starts.

I thought Smallwood had an absolute mare tonight. Kept putting us under pressure with terrible back passes.

    Banks was Sky's MOTM

    Gilliead was City's amazingly
