Cook was atrocious yesterday, back to his old habit of doing nothing, never won a header and just complained throughout. Against Stevenage he looked a different player, running into space, pulling defenders away and never gave up.. hell he even setup walker for the second! he looked great.. think he needs dropping again for a few games.

I'll be reasonable and say there may be some truth in it but I think it's a massively overstated sentiment and I think it's the sort of platitude that I'd expect from a new player trying to say the right thing.

 

This was a massive issue yesterday. I'd like to see this from both Cook and Eisa. I was watching how many times either of them tried a sneaky arcing run around the outside of the CB to give one of Clayton, Ridehalgh or Halliday to hit into the inside channel but it didn't happen once. The option was never there. At worst you might get a throw in and around their penalty area. It's not imaginative but it's basic league 2 percentage play.

 

Surely even Fordy has the brains to understand that by the time we've played 20 or 30 passes backwards and sideways for 5 minutes, if we do then finally play it up towards Cook, or whoever else is up front, he is going to be up against 4 or 5 defenders who have had all the time in the world to set themselves, and crowd him out of any possible opportunity to get a shot in.
Both on Tuesday and yesterday, Cook was putting himself about all over the place (despite what Bumblebee_Tuna seems to have thought) but when you're continually doing that and the ball never comes it must get incredibly discouraging after a time.

 

It is not funny and down right insulting to a player who gives his all. Now his all might not be good enough for you but do not insult him. You are being offensive and there is never any need for that kind of behaviour.

 

It still amazes me how many people at football and on social media get personal when someone is simply not performing to their expectations at a job they couldn’t do themselves. When Hughes joined it was, he’s a breathe of fresh air, comes across so well etc. now it’s a; he’s boring, arrogant, pig headed, sheep shagger and whatever else. What it’s worth I know someone who’s met him and took time out to speak to him when others wouldn’t, seems like a decent bloke. I’m as frustrated as anyone at the performances, but it doesn’t suddenly make him a prick. People need to cut the personal crap and keep it strictly about the football it makes them look like arseholes.

The guy who sits behind me, the stuff he was calling Halliday and Smallwood when he’s never met them, truly a horrid human being and I’m close to telling him what I think but then o think why should I make it uncomfortable for everyone else around us.

People show their true colours far more in difficult times than easy times and football is no different.
