To be fair to the linesman who the referee looked across to confirm the ball had crossed the line or otherwise was right up with play.

Yep, agree as Gilliead had a good game and East was solid for us- didn't let us down but no doubt he will have to make way for Smallwood.
The problem will be if you start a game with all the old farts and they get worn out then Hughes brings the likes of Nevers/Costelloe/Dion(if he is still here) on then no complaints if City get over run/bypassed and the young 'uns fail to track back.
Game manager needed on the bench as well, please gaffer.
Some experience required otherwise this season is going for a Song...........o'o!!

Unfortunately when Cook received the ball he only has the one thing on his mind, and to be fair Esia had made a mess of his one on one early doors and Cooks effort did bring a good save from Flinders.

Need a mention of Lewis this season. With an average League 2 keeper we would be only mid-table. Some of his saves have been totally outstanding.

Yes it's easy posting stuff on here that we as fans thought Hughes could have done better but yesterday would have suited Songo'o right down to the ground, but I we can't blame him for wanting regular football.

I haven’t given up hope just yet. Walker, Clayton, Stubbs, Bola, Odasebe, Banks, Derbyshire all should be big assets when they get upto full fitness. If we can stay there or thereabouts, we should be in a strong position at the business end of the season.

It could have been 3-3 without a shadow of doubt. Enjoyable game for the neutral, but our Achilles heel of not finishing teams off is becoming a long term “injury”.

Was on the bench yesterday for Walsall and didn't get used.

Overall after yesterday's performance I feel more positive about our chances than I did before kick off. Clayton looks like a massive boost for us. Like others have said he could be the perfect bit of recruitment.

Agree it was a decent game to watch. Honestly did we miss Smallwood at all? I thought East did a very good job in there and noticeably had much more energy. Gilliead was superb as well. Clayton very calm on the ball. Overall our midfield played its best 70 mins for a long time....... then fatigue set in. Chapman a huge disappointment-he really flatters to deceive and his out put this year has been shocking.

Wouldn't have minded to see Oliver and Derbyshire on for the last 15 to give them something to think about instead of sitting back and letting them bomb on at us for the last 20. We all knew the goal would eventually come. It's just what we do at City these days.

Not if he is playing next to Smallwood he won’t be. In my mind it can only be one or the other.

On that showing I thought Walker was back to how he was, unlucky not to score. Another couple of games should see his fitness back to how it was.
Clayton , excellent game along with Gilly. East was the breath of fresh air I applauded before kick off.
The second half when they went 3-5-1-1 killed our midfield by smothering it with bodies.
Like all the teams we have seen recently, I thought Mansfield were average at best.
We should have honestly had three before half time, Walker unlucky, and Eisa should have buried his chance.

Agreed. His ability to control and dictate puts Smallwood's limitations into sharp focus.

Change the record. First impressions of tha facilities will be very good and a player coming on a two year deal won't give a flying fcuk if we own it or not.

It's a non issue that has only ever seemed to bother you, Stephen Warnock and a now unemployable championship manager called Grayson.

If you are bothered, do some research and provide a list of clubs below the championship that own their own training ground and another that owns their own stadium. By the way, take off that list all those owned by 'associate' companies of the club owner.

Without him we'd be bottom 5 in the table imo.

Playing without a goalkeeper would be problematic for most teams I would've thought.
