He’s not an idiot and hats off to him to get the ball rolling.

Saturdays it can be done with a lunchtime kick off, but night games are a completely different animal.

I can’t see football being played midweek with a noon kick off!

    Any ideas?

Problem with lunchtime kick offs, is all the logistics that surrounds it. I’d also say a fair few pubs and eating places would miss out on a lot of pre match trade.

In truth nothing can be done without government support.

How does owning your stadium cut your energy bills in todays climate. The cost of renting ones stadia has already been factored into “ club running costs” . Trebling of energy HAS NOT.

Your move, however checkmate springs to mind?

He problem for us is we have an increased bill. We pay rent and other costs for things we don’t own. So now our bills are mounting up and we have no assets.

We will be feeling things more than any other clubs currently because of our increases in bills.
It’s all collective at this moment.

Probably not, but I do remember City struggling without adequate floodlights in 1983. For example the midweek match against Cardiff City on Wednesday 16 February 1983 kicked off at 2.45pm.

I’ve always been a massive advocate for moving it to summer myself Kev, maybe in some countries it would be to much though I’m not sure. But a Tuesday night game in June/July has much more appeal than a December night against someone like Crawley and needing hours to thaw out when you get home.

Before Floodlights became the norm,2-15 was the usual kick off time for Sat games.Of course, half time interval was only 10 mins, and they did not play the stupid amount of injury time they play now,so i would think 2-00 would be more realistic now.

True. But despite our reputation for enjoying a drink before a game, I think there’d be much less takers 10:00-12:30, than 12:00-14:30. Wetherspoons might pick up though :)

Agreed. Mind you I wouldn’t set foot in a sticky carpet if the beer was free!;)
