I think we'll see Banks drop out for Sutton and Oliver come in for Cook. Sutton isn't tricky but he's disciplined and full of running, if he could add more of a goal threat he'd be a bit of a Tommo on the right wing I think.

Think 80 mins on Saturday will be enough for Cook, Oliver looked hungry on Saturday, made a few runs in behind and tried to be a nuisance so I think he'll get a start. Otherwise it'll be the same side

Wonder if Hendrie might get a go at RB. Halliday not played for a year.
4 games in 11 days might be a struggle.

Likewise, Foulds for Ridehalgh. Ridehalgh missed much of pre-season.

I would think Harratt would be involved somewhere, having missed 3 games.

Gilliead missed much of pre-season too. Maybe East back in?

Angol's injuries being 'managed'. Maybe 20 mins off the bench for him.

 

Then if we loose (heaven forbid) wth the changes you suggest this site will be rammed with “why did he do that” moaning.

4 points from the next 2 games would be a good and realistic haul - but in general our fans are going to need to avoid hitting the panic button the second we go on a little winless run, because it will happen.

 

MH can't do right for wrong to be fair. Leave it as it is and we lose, and then he'll get asked why he didn't mix it up.
I'm sure all the data will be available on the players fitness.
It's a judgement call based on the strength of the squad and the fitness of the players.
That's why MH is on the big bucks.

 

And also on the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition. Certain players will be more dangerous/more defensively secure against particular teams, depending on how they set up and approach the game. Horses for courses. That's one benefit of having a squad full of players who can all come in and do a decent job.

 

That's will be one of the criteria that will dictate who he believes needs resting, it couldn't have been easy playing in those condition last Saturday and I'd think it would take more out of players than a normal Saturday game, but as you say he's damned if he does freshen the starting 11 up and we don't get a result and damned if he doesn't and we don't get a positive result.

 

The only benefit being we didn't get out of 4th gear for the last half an hour on Saturday.

 

In that case it makes Sparkies decision even harder.

 

Totally agree. What was the point of flogging to death in that heat but some on here didn’t agree. Just proves you can’t win whatever

The thing I took from Saturday’s game was how we managed it in the heat. As we progress through the season I am looking forward to seeing us raise our game as the weather becomes more favourable. There is a lot more to come from this team on Saturdays showing.

 

We had no need to , that was pretty deliberate and that’s the whole point of game management. Let them run around chasing the ball whilst we pass amongst ourselves.

 

Can't blame them tbh. Newport weren't creating much and it must have been a squillion degrees on the pitch. We won pretty comfortably, did the job, and in less trying weather conditions would probably have pushed on more.
