I’m sorry but I still think womens football is crap (better than Doncaster though). Well done to them however.

Congrats to them, I didn’t really watch any of the tournament but for the injury time. Won’t comment on the quality as it’s harsh to compare it to the mens game, simple genetics makes it an unfair comparison.

If it helps more young girls get into the sport then great news.

To be fair, both the first two goals were cracking goals in their own way. I thought the play from the German defender to take the ball, bring it upfield and lay it off deserved the finish it got.

It's a fantastic boost for the ladies game and it will bring a new generation of kids into the game,

Oh bugger off with this misery-guts attitude. The vision, passing and that dinked goal were superb. You sound like you are sitting in a rocking chair, wearing slippers and a flat cap.

The English women's team has just won the women's European championship. The English men's team has won nothing at all for 56 years.

Let’s hope this brilliant achievement inspires more young women into sport. The best thing in life for mental and physical well being

Sorry I’m not allowed to have an opinion and that we must all clap like demented seals to womens football.

Exactly. Even the best of women's teams couldn't compete against a reasonable men's team. To expect otherwise is missing the point.

I watched some of the recent Athletics World Championship and saw the men's 200m and women's 200m finals. Both were great races to watch. The fact that the men's was won in less than 20secs and the women's was around 22secs proves that men are faster - well, they are taller, more powerful and run quicker. Women simply couldn't compete against the men. But that takes nothing away from the women. It was still a great race between the best women sprinters in the world. And those same principles apply to football and other sports in which women compete against other women.

    For me it's pretty simple
Don't try and compare the women's game to the men's.
To win a Euros is a great achievement and anything that encourages youngsters to be active has to be applauded.
I've been to a few WSL games and found them entertaining, but not something I'd pay a lot of money for.
My gripe is the way that very shortly Wayne Rooney will probably be overtaken by Ellen White as England's all time goal scorer. The why don't they get paid the same as men "movement",

Your right it doesn't compare with men's football and don't know why anyone would try to make that comparison.
The first England goal was great skill and executed to perfection by Toone.

I'm still shocked at myself. Watched most of Englands games. The group stages just reinforced my view that womens football was a waste of time but then from the knockout stages onwards I really enjoyed it. All the teams going for it. I know it's easier when your winning, but what about the team spirit and camaraderie the ladies team have. The bunch of overpaid prima donnas in our mens team could do with some of that. Doubt I'll ever watch ladies club football but bring on the world cup

Ticket sales for the Lionesses next 2 games are going very well with over 20,000 sold in a day for their game against Luxembourg at Stoke and more to be put on sale soon then tickets for England vs USA at Wembley has sold out in less than 24 hours with queues online hours long.
Shows that the Euros weren't a 1 off and hopefully this carries on. It will be interesting to see where the FA choose to play the qualifiers for the 2025 Euros, for me I would split the 5 games across the country between Wembley, South West, Midlands, North West, North East/Yorkshire to keep the momentum going of big crowds whilst keeping assessable to families.

You allowed to have an opinion. The same way we are allowed to say your opinion seems to be full of hate in a weird way. If young girls can start to see sportwomen as heroes as opposed to those off love island then the UK will be a better and healthier place.

Nice safe environment to take the family to watch International football. The trouble with Wembley for the men's is the Southern contingent. There just seems to be a higher proportion of nationalist ####s. they should take the game around the country, and not use it as an excuse to fill their own coffers when it was the FA which banned them from playing for 50 years

Seems like Graeme Souness can't make an honest assessment/comment with regards Sunday London derby, I completely agreed with his comment "It's a man's game all of a sudden again," he wasn't berating the woman's game just giving his opinion on that yesterdays game was all about, allowing the game to continue when the referee thought there was no need to stop the game a cracking blood and thunder London derby.
Like it or not ladies women's football can't compare to the men's game I've said during the UEFA Women's Championship recently it was a breath of fresh air, very little faking injury respecting the referees decision and getting on with the game rather than time wasting but as a spectacle no contest IMO.

It was a man’s game he was talking about. Can’t get my head around that seemingly we’re not allowed to state the difference. “Player of the match” now…even though it’s judged among 22 men. I would have no qualms hearing “man of the match” in a mens game, or “woman of the match” in a woman’s game. Who gets offended? Same as “batsman” or “batswoman”, but no we now have “batter”. Thinking about it, how come the womens team are allowed to be gender specific calling themselves “lionesses”. I find that offensive. Not. Of course I don’t.

Sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Souness loses his job over his comments. What an old dinosaur! Let’s replace him with someone who has been groomed by the BBC. Perhaps the bird who called out the Lionesses for being too white. I hope they give that person a seat commentating on the next Crystal Palace game. She’d be lost for words.

I think that is a real possibility and wouldn't that be a blow with regards free speech.
