He's going to get their fans out of their seats apparently.

Lewis - dont know much about him. Was on Southamptons books for a long time though so must have something.

Doyle - decent spell here last time, older now but experienced and coaching will be a positive.

Critchlow - Swindon fans very happy with his spell, did well with him there, tailed off when he left.

Platt - came from Barrow, not inspiring as others but one of their better players according to fans.

Odusina - a few in L2 were after him. Impressed against us, Pools young player of the season.

Smallwood - a marquee, 40 odd games as captain in Championship last term.

East - squad filler. Will be hoping to develop and mould into a Watt type replacement.

Osadebe - mixed reviews of him. When he is on it hes an asset apparently. Consistency his main issue.

Walker - saw enough of him last season. Will be a real asset and has goals in him.

Chapman - had some decent spells in L1. Surely has enough at this level to succeed.

Young - another squad filler hoping to kick on. Promoted with FGR last term.

Harratt - similar to above. Promoted with Port Vale fans. General consensus is they wanted him back.

All in all happy so far. Right back and a Winger needed now and we are done.

Weird actually having strength in depth for once. We've got 3 strikers people actually want to see, 3 CBs who could all start in the 2 slots. Walker, Chapman, Gilly, Eisa, Osadebe and potentially Pereira for the 3 Winger/Am slots. Seen a few people say that apparently a young PL midfielder is signing on loan this week?

Think RB is the only key slot to improve now, might be waiting to see if we can ship out Threlkeld? Imagine Staunton gets his loan sorted soon (might be wrong but not seen him in any training photos). Then it's probably just see how pre-season pans out, if any visible slots or improvements needed. Fingers crossed no injuries and we are looking ready..... before July! Very un-city like.

Can someone put up the list of current first team players in each position? Can highlight in bold who they think the starting 11 might be.

I’ve lost track of who we’ve got and who plays where.

Will be interesting to show any obvious gaps/weakness.

I’ll play the guessing game in this age of Political Correctness. The emoji is of a white-handshake - if it was anything to do with Timi, then shame on you City for not providing a black hand-shake. By my crap deduction, I’m expecting another signing today.

Bold represents players likely to be considered for starting 11 on most match weeks

Tough time to judge were those utility type players will sit at the moment, probably needs a few friendlies under their belts. With us signing 3 new CBs, might mean that Songo'o moves back into midfield? Or we have him as a back up for both CB/DM. Osadebe is like Gilly in that they are both right wingers usually, but ended up covering CM due to lack of ones available at the time. Sounds like Osadebe didn't play the best in the middle, where as i though Gilly was good as a CM. But nobody really knows where MH wants either of them yet.

Think if we bring in another midfielder, probably shows that one if not both will be seen as wide men more than CMs.

I’m excited to see what the season holds now after having it sapped out of me last season to the point where I wanted a year off, Hughes in only a small amount of games gave me my appetite back(and not having to go on day trips and shopping!) for the season. I can’t claim to know much about the signings other than Walker and Smallwood but despite a lack of appearances I feel they have been brought in with a game plan in mind, that imo can often be as important as how many games someone’s played I don’t like to compare with the PL as it’s unrealistic but Man United had all the experience you could hope for and were trash and ended below a very young Arsenal team who at least had a plan and identity.

Anyway back onto us, other than the loans that we made permanent such as Davies and Atkinson and an old lower league midfielder from little Rochdale I’d not really heard of any of our players in 2012, it doesn’t guarantee anything but that season taught me to never write anything off. For me it’s more about getting people out now our squad is too big and still has a lot not up to it. Other than that a RB and a right sided attacker and I’d say we are good to go.

I would not be surprised is Songo’o is a benchwarmer all season? I can’t see his fit in the 11.

Well he didn’t get me out of mine, and when he didn’t play I didn’t notice. When they announced he had gone back to Huddersfield, I had to ask who he was?

Loss of form, injuries, rotation, cup games. Its a long old season.

Him coming in at CB or DM is alot better than thr shite that has previously. He will get 25-30 games providing he sticks around.

For sure I don’t want him to go, a bloke you want on your side during a battle ! My observation surrounds, where would he sit in our best 11. I’ll leave it up to the team but still makes me curious.

Yeh, as things stand he isnt a starter but who knows, MH may have other ideas. A very valuable squad member IMO.

Hard to argue with that. Still gets a clean slate if he ends up staying though. I heard he had some mental health problems last term, not sure how true but he doesn't look great on the pictures etc. It will obviously effect his football so I will wish him well either way.
