But surely the very people who attend most away games are the fans who can afford it, or they wouldn't be going.

You keep saying that priority cards were open for everyone to buy but that’s not 100% true. Numbers were originally capped at 2000 and I think then lowered to 1000 in last few seasons.
I agree though that 70% of regular away travellers probably had a priority card. It’s the other 30% who bought one with no intention of travelling that irritates me. You usually see the same faces at away games but there were so many faces at Harrogate that I’ve never seen anywhere else.

And that'll be reflected in the points earned under the new system. But at least people who go less frequently still get the opportunity to build some points under the new format.

Again, I say this as having had priority every year up until now where I won't (now being a Dad) so I face the possibility of not always being able to get tickets when I do have the opportunity to go. But at least I can keep a level of loyalty/points ticking upwards, rather than being locked out because I didn't get a card at the start of the season.

Come on now you're splitting hairs, I don't think when the original priority card was launched we sold all 2,000, again I don't think we sold the full allocation any season after that.

Let's hope Sparkie can get us into league one next season then it will become less of a problem, nothing better than an away end full of fellow City fans or as at Bury in the FA Cup both ends.

Totally agree. Everyone knew the score prior to 21/22. Priority cards were necessary for some of the smaller venues.
And everyone will know the score prior to 22/23.
I'm sure one or two will still find room for a grumble though.

I'm just not sure the club is going to turn down £30-60K.
That could be the annual salary of a squad player.

most of us know of incidents when none season ticket holders and people who had not been at either Milwall match, managed to get tickets.[/QUOTE]

Whatever system is put in place needs to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Remember some people (who apparently didn’t actually support City), just expected to be able to get lots of tickets for high profile matches!

If we do well you may find getting tickets for the local games a right pain ............ I do agree though that the folk who did go to the majority of away games last season should be first in line ................these poor sods had to endure that shite for most of the season home and away so why should they not be rewarded because folk are wanting to go again if things do go well

btw I only did 5 away games last season so I ain’t putting this in about myself

Nope, I never said that it should be a free for all. I just think it's more complicated than saying that those whose current circumstances allow them to attend lots of away games should be prioritised for limited availability tickets.
There's more to loyalty than following the club around the country in the current season. Those who've been regularly attending games and buying season tickets for decades have demonstrated ample loyalty and I don't see why that is worth less than this year's supposed uberfans.

Confirmation on Twitter that there will be no away priority membership scheme this season. Further details to be announced this week.

I have long standing city fan friends who live all over the world whom when they lived here trailed around the country week in week out. When they come home, would it be fair for them to have a chance of a Harrogate ticket?

Not necessarily. Depends how long they did it for.
It not just about away game attendance. Someone who's been buying season tickets every year for 20/30/40/50 years has just as much right to go to away local derbies or other limited availability matches as some nineteen year old who has followed City around the country every other week for three years.

Of course they do but with only 400 tickets available at some of these tinpot places, what’s the solution? There isn’t one unless you make it a free for all 1 ticket per ST holder and I guarantee you’d have a queue snaking around VP overnight. Is that what you want? A loyalty points system is the only sensible solution and I think you know it.

Yes, some kind of loyalty points system is probably necessary. But it can be weighted in many different ways, not just in favour of those who have lots of recent away game attendance. Sure, points for away games should be part of it, but I'd like to see a loyalty system that includes recognition of 'long service' as well as recent away miles.

Even then you get people passing their STs up the queue to their mates so they don’t miss out - as we saw in the cup matches -leading to the club using stewards to issue numbers to people IIRC?

i never go away but dont have a problem if, for a cup match, i was to miss out to someone who has been to ten aways already in the current season.

Loyalty points makes more sense than the priority cards IMO.

thankfully there’s always Ifollow now for those missing out.
