I think L2 this coming season will be the most competitive that I can recall, every team looks to have improved in some way, the teams come down should be competitive and the teams up also, very tough season ahead.

I agree. Especially as a lot of northern clubs fighting for the same players.
Stockport/Salford/Tranmere/Doncaster/Mansfield all expected to be in the mix at the top end.

Not me…It’s no different in our thought process that said Wrexham were going to walk the league , win the FA Cup and every other trophy on the planet….. They won nothing at the end of the day.

I will stick my neck out around Xmas , until then it’s too early , imho.

Do you think they have better squad and manager than we have?

The only thing they have in their favour is momentum. Don’t forget they have to work under different financial rules in the EFL as opposed to the free for all in the NFL.

Their four signings are all from non league football at the moment.

The clever money is on waiting for a few months. I first envisaged Stockport and Wrexham walking away with the national League playoffs spots but after watching Wrexham for a couple of months it became clearer that for all the money they had spent they were literally just a hoofball side reliant on set piece and Tozers long throw. As owners I'd have expected better for their investment.

A team that have spent 11 years trying to get out of the National League are suddenly going to smash League 2 in their first season? Like you say, they have momentum going for them and never say never and all that, but I don't think they will be the force some are expecting them to be.

What's the fuss over Stockport? Am I missing something?

Those are my thoughts too. Maybe they will smash the league, but I would be very surprised if they do.

Everyone assumed the same with Salford, they'd walk promotion just due to money and momentum... have they even made the play offs yet in L2? They've got a lot of players on their books who couldn't hack it in their previous EFL spells so they are gambling on a lot of these guys being able to do it.

L2 is a much closer division too than the NL is. The drop off in quality between a top 7 side and a mid table side isn't that much. Even last season a poor Carlisle team strung a few wins together to get them from relegation slots to near us. Where as in the NL, there's a set of teams who you know will get 20+ wins before a ball is kicked, and there will be 3 or 4 teams who will struggle to get 30-35 points.

There is no such place as North Midlands. Falls inside the East Midlands region.

As good as Parkinson did for us he is anti football. Bolton fans grew tired and Sunderland fans pretty much hated him.

To spend all that money and resort to hoofball at NL level is baffling. And it failed.

Dont see him there long in all honesty.

A few names at Stockport stand out. Sarcaevic and Madden are decent. Do think Crankshaw was sold too early, had a great season for them.

You dont need superstars in this league. But they do have a bit of quality and will add to that. Odusina would be a start.

They wont walk the league but id expect them to be up there.
