Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there is a big difference between fans being underwhelmed and claiming the signing is not good enough.

The justification underpinning the latter point is laughable to be honest. Particularly when there is counter evidence from fans ITK who watched him week in week out performing in one of the best teams in League 2 last season.

 

Is it laughable?

He's 23, and played 4 months of football at a decent level.

He was laughed out of Plymouth, and failed to break into the Hartlepool side that Odusina (the supposed other target) actually did get a run of games in during the same season (before establishing himself properly the season after).

We're putting an enormous amount of stock in a brief spell at Swindon if we're saying he's DEFINITELY a first team quality player in a promotion chasing L2 side.

 

The laughable part of my comment was in relation to people stating, 'he was woeful against us at their place'. 45 mins does not provide the foundation of a strong argument.

I'm not aware he was laughed out of Plymouth? Admittedly he didn't get the game time he would have hoped for, but to step up a level after only half a season in the league below indicates the boy has potential. Something to take confidence from.

You yourself admit he ESTABLISHED himself at a decent level. I suspect he will be part of Hughes consideration for a starting position, particularly based on his progress and performance last season. But that might not be the case, however, if he was good enough for a 'promotion chasing League 2 side' last season then we should view this signing with a degree of confidence without getting ahead of ourselves.

Wasn't NKP close to getting player of the season, during the McCall play-off one?

Let's remember than NKP played 29 times for Morecambe in their promotion winning season - most of those during their impressive December onwards form

Or are we only remembering his subsequent dodgy seasons with us - because it suits the point to be proven?

Crichlow could indeed be like NKP and so in that case just needs careful management to get the best of him - which I'd expect a good manager to do anyway. I'll take his first season been as good as NKP's first one with us!!

 

You can imagine the meltdown on these boards, if we'd done what Port Vale did this time last year and took a chance on the underachieving James Wilson - who Salford were more than happy to get rid of

That signing turn out OK for them - as we found out when he gave Paudie the runaround in March.

Clearly having a good manager worked for him.

And that's the key thing in L2 - it's about the manager identifying potential and getting the most out of it, as opposed to spending all the budget on known quality, which often results in them not delivering.

 

And if he is as good as NKP was I will be very happy.

 

Welcome on board Romoney I hope you have a blinder of a season for us , but do it quietly so you don't get recalled in January

Or maybe there was never any interest in Odusina at all

I don't get how folk on here can write him off or claim that he's the next so-and-so.
Until he kicks a ball for us in anger none of us know how good or bad he maybe.
As the warning says when buying stocks and shares 'past performance is no guarantee of future results'

 

Mind you I look at Joe Mattock who Harrogate have just signed and think he sounded just like what we needed
