What's this obsession with crowd numbers. He obviously thought playing for his home town for a better salary and against a better standard of player week in week out was a more inviting prospect.

Higher up the football pyramid, better wages maybe, better players to play alongside and against.

Good luck to the man. Wish him the very best.

Sheff Wed, Derby, Ipswich, Pompey also get good numbers. Certainly more than Crawley and Barrow.....its a one way argument when its about crowds.....

It’s very odd and it’s across the board now. Fans seem to be obsessed with attendances like it actually means something.
Crawley made one of our fans looks very stupid earlier in the week. People seem to think season ticket holder numbers should dictate what league you are in. Bizarre.

I'd have liked him to stay. But fair enough he's gone to a team in the league above. Fair play.

To loose that are crying in their tea.. Vernam was ok the last couple of months. The rest before hand was pretty much meh!

If we expect to keep good players at this club, then city need to do things right on and off the pitch.

Decades... Work in progress! Much to learn.

    NEXT.

Those teams you mention get the old juices flowing when it comes to fixtures next season. Quite envious of Vernam and the Lincoln fans having the privilege of visiting them and having them visit your ground. We'd be looking at 20,000 + crowds if we were in Lincolns shoes.

He said a few months ago in an interview with Raynor that he was ambitious and he seems to have achieved that and is now playing in a higher division playing against better teams. Good luck to him

As Sergio had just said look at the teams in league 1 next season, Vernam will be able to sample that big game atmosphere a lot next season while we go to Sutton and Stevenage.

In my opinion….Beware of people trawling back through your support for Edin doing such a wonderful job. It’s an opinion …right.

You could say do you want to play in front of a 80% plus capacity crowd or 60%.
Of course anyone in their right mind would turn down Bournemouth

I'm not as convinced. But I never fell in love with the early season 'Vernham is god' narrative we had from some on here.

I also find his crossing is inconsistent - Ridehalgh is far better.

Of course, I'd rather he stayed, but he often faded badly in matches and had such an indifferent spell that Adams dropped him for the away win at Swindon.

Yes, he's been great in his last few matches - but I point out his inconsistency because surely that isn't hard to replace.

I'd cite Kyel Reid at this level was better and both he and Mark Marshall were even better in L1.

    He is replaceable.

In fairness, nobody played well for Adams.

Good luck to him, but I always assumed the reason he came to us was because he couldn't quite hack it against the better players in the league above?

Good luck to Vernam, played his better games under Mark Hughes. Can’t fault a lad wanting to play for his home club whatever division.

it’s what we do next season that counts, I am sure Hughes will of anticipated the loses of the out of contact players and have a plan. Might not be a permanent signing which we are all waiting for that announcement, but a good loan player from a decent higher league club. These don’t become available until training starts.
