Just seen that the old Lexus Garage and Stanley Cars on junction of Canal Road/Station Road are to be demolished and replaced with a petrol station, shop, charging points.

As part of the scheme there will be more parking restrictions implemented on Station Road to help keep the entrance clear. So less parking available on match days. Council also confirmed they are continuing with their plan to turn Station Road into a one way Road with no exit into Canal Road.

Now that is good to know. I could easily get to VP on a full charge from Norfolk but couldn’t do the full round trip . Wouldn’t that be something. Park at charger, watch game, drive home. If they are fast chargers that would preclude parking for 90 mins.

Why don’t the club install a bank of payable chargers so fans travelling the miles could do the same?

Depending on parking restriction on the site you might have to pop out and move it at half time

Here you go. Some sites worth investigating. Apparently on Canal Road https://ospreycharging.co.uk/

A list courtesy of Bradford MBC. https://www.bradford.gov.uk/environment/climate-change/electric-vehicle-charging-points/

No excuse for not attending games!

Tesco on Canal Road have charging points but again their parking restrictions might make it unusable when coming to a match

I know , it’s the long drive there and back! I used to do it when we lived in Stortford when we all had seasons. It’s a long day! . We usually do an overnight job in the canal side hotel in Shipley. Makes it easier. I do miss it , but there are other means!

So where do people suggest instead of Station Road?

Park and Ride is the solution.

You can park in Foster Square car park for a Saturday game for 3 hours without issue.

Otherwise Broadway is about £2 for as long as you need, however it is a bit of a trek to and from the ground. I park there for evening kick offs following the spate of break ins that used to take place a few years back.

A few quid for piece of mind whilst you are at the game isn't much.

At a petrol station, I'd expect the charge points to be at least 50 kW, but maybe they'll go as high as 150 - 180 kW. As an option, there are some 350 kW Ionity chargers at Leeds Skelton Park services, just a short diversion from your route.

When we played at Barrow, I paid £3 (via the Horizon parking app) to park all day on the Tesco car park not far from the ground. That gave me access to their free 7kWh chargers. By the time I got back to the car, after the match, I'd topped up enough to do my return journey non-stop.

It seems the Tesco near Valley Parade is one of the few that Horizon parking don't offer all day parking at.

I'll using my EV for home matches this coming season, so I'm also looking for the best place to park. My EV can just about manage the return journey, so I don't necessarily need a space with a charger, but if I could get some free Tesco juice, I certainly wouldn't say no.

The issue could be “overstaying the charge” thus incurring additional penalties or indeed parking fines. It would be great if the club could get “sponsorship installation” of charge points though. I fear they me be overrun though?

Poorly engineered and built cars, vastly overpriced . Software is good though.

I used to Park up by the Corn Dolly, don’t know if you still can, but there was ample parking on the nearby streets.
