Rumours we have signed Jake Young, FGR Forward. Huddersfield lad, 20 years old and 4 goals in 29 last term. 8 in 39 term before.

A few people adament medical passed and deal done.

 

If true, another physical lad is Young, 6'1 or 6'2 depending on which site you read. More strength than speed to go along with Cook and Angol both over 6ft.

Called it a few weeks back, in Hughes signs big strikers and rotates often, using 4 or 5 strikers a season all getting over 15 starts. Shaping up like he's sticking to his old guns. Tends to have 4 or 5 wingers on the books too.

 

FGR fans saying played wing alot but a CF by trade. Might be a handy 3rd or 4th choice.

Cant fault this record too much. Young kid and FGR had 2 of the best strikers in the league last term.

 

Young lad(pardon the pun) fair bit of FL experience for his age and has been in a winning dressing room, don’t know much about the lad but I like this kind of signing if true.

 

Ladapo released by Rotherham. Good enough for L1 givwn his recent records but he would be a fine signing.

 

He had a couple of years at Guiseley before signing for FGR I believe.

If he does sign, I trust we will still be looking to sign another forward.

I think we can forget daft rumours about signing the likes of Charlie Austin though, probably a young loan signing

 

Yeh he went to Sheff Utd from Guiseley. He was a solid part of FGR squad last term. Actually scored at VP in the 1-1 draw (and the year before).....

But yeh, we still need that galactico signing to fire us to promotion.

 

Slightly concerning that FGR released him though

 

Well the best strike force in the league were ahead of him. And they have moved up a division. Probably done it as a favour for his development. Fans thought well of him and sad to see him go if you look at the FGR tweet announcing his departure.

I dont for one minute think he is being brought in as our main striker. If he was good enough for FGR last term as a squad player then he is good enough for us next term is my take.

Albeit if the rumours are true.

 

Nearly signed for us in January according to rumours. Not sure why it fell through though, presume FGR wanted too much of a fee at the time and we ended up with Robinson

 

Yeh. Guessing the move back up north near family suits him. Hes 20 years old and wants to play more youd think. Be unfair to offer him a deal just so they can get a fee.

 

Been reading up about Jake Young, his style of play sounds very similar to Lee Angol. Probably signing for cover to Angol initially then

 

My guess is the 4th striker might be more of the Cook play type. Hughes' past transfer strategy through his career is the Noahs ark model....he takes two of every type he needs.

Rarely breaks habit and goes for the pacey smaller forwards, but you never know he might see L2 as a place needing more variety over a longer season than he is used to.

 

Fair points. Open mind from me. I'd certainly see more merit in this signing than someone like Atangana that we've been linked with.

Apparently there's a leaked photo doing the rounds of Jake Young saying he's signed. I guess it's a photo of him during his press photos or something but I haven't seen it.
