If he is any good , we take up the third year of his contract, he will probably get a bit of a pay rise . if not he goes after the two years.

 

I think there's a lot of different types of these. Some are straight forward does the club want to activate another year yes/no? And some are dependent on performance, for example appearances. I assume this is the former given that they've announced it as performance clauses are generally kept quiet.

Height given is 1.9m, this equals just under 6' 3".
6' 4" sounds more impressive though, hope we have got a solid goalkeeper at last.

He was highly rated by Southampton…otherwise why would they keep him on the books and pay him a wage so long? There are gems out there….It’s knowing where to look. Remember Mark Schwartzer? He wasn’t bad …plucked from Germany after he’d only played a handful of games for Kaiserslautern..

 

I remember watching him , maybe his debut at Colchester , he gave them at least one goal…..dreadful!

Reality is he may well be decent for our level. We shall see.

 

He’s dropping massively and wants to prove himself. Time will tell if he’s up to it but it just looks like he wants to play games, kick on and, as he says, be part of something. Welcome to the club, Harry.

 

The question is, is he better looking than ROD ?

 

The opposite. Your sentence makes it sound like he definitely has three years unless we take some action to release him after 2. It's not that. His contract is 2 years but if we choose to take action then we can (depending on some terms) extend for one more year.

 

I am optimistic with this signing. Mark Hughes has seen for himself what the player brings and wants to sign him. He hasn't been sold to us by an over enthusiastic agent or on the basis of video highlights.
We moved quickly to sign him. It suggests he was high up on Hughes' target list.

I think the club do go OTT at times though, and no doubt Hughes gave a statement, but Sparks and the gang have probably thrown a handful of claret and amber glitter over it.

At least we don't have to ensure Masons claxon anymore and seemed go about our transfer business in a more efficient manner.

 

Blackburn did it with Brereton Diaz. They just took up an option to give him another year rather than letting him go for free.

I suppose its just clubs protecting themselves if players are a success, without tying themselves down, in our case, with a three year concrete deal
