I'm a bit surprised to see Cooke in there without a deal being offered but you have to wonder if he's let it be known he wants to leave. There's a good midfielder on a free for a league 2 club right there.

Of those still under contract Threlkeld is the only one I'm really hoping moves on. Nothing against the lad but he just isn't up to it. Personally I'd happily see Hendrie signed up for another season.

No surprise with the 5 first team squad players leaving.

Didn't expect Sutton and Foukds to be offered new contracts for example.

Of those offered new contracts, I expect to see Vernam leave and possibly Watt and Paudie.

I hope sensible deadlines have been given to the players offered new contracts so Hughes knows soon enough where he needs to prioritise new signings

 

Terrible from the club of players were finding out by social media, apparently they found out Hughes was the new manager through sky sports news at training. These things just didn’t used to happen, there’s bigger issues at the club but it should keep some class and integrity.

 

As he walked around the pitch after Saturday's match and his name was chanted he didn't behave like someone who was expecting to be a City player next season.

 

Personally, I'd have released Hendrie, Foulds, Sutton and (tin hat on) Watt. I would also hope we can offload Threlkeld, Gilliead, Kelleher, Hornby, Songo'o and Cook. Wouldn't be that bothered if Vernam and Paudie left. Our squad has been dire for a long time and there are hundreds of players available this summer. We need a complete change of culture and attitude and too many of our recent squads have shown themselves lacking. Swindon put a playoff side together in a couple of weeks.We need to recruit players with real grit, considerable height and the ability to play effectively throughout the season, not just when the sun is shining at the beginning and end. How many times have we started a season brightly and finished likewise but struggled in the hard months when the grounds are heavy and it's cold and windy? We need stronger players, not the lightweights who can look good but just can't hack it in the winter.

Havent double checked, but I heard Plymouth only released 1 player this summer. Think that's good on them to be honest.

You really are going to have to let it go, Kevin 1954 is like a dog with a bone. To be honest I'd heard the same rumours but for the life of me I can't remember where, too much Saltaire Blonde I suspect. I didn't want to say anything because Kevin 1954 does like his facts.

 

Surprised there wasn’t mention of which youth players will be offered deals.

 

As others have said I'm a bit surprised at a few of the players offered deals, but I think it's more to do with the fact that Sutton, Foulds and Hendrie are all probably on relatively low wages and MH may think he would struggle to find better back ups for what they're on, so may as well sign these 3 back on who are already integrated into the squad. I don't think anyone thinks they're good enough for 1st team but they are certainly more than acceptable back ups.
