It was @Fordy117@Fordy117 that said this.

It’s amazing how many Bradford City fans can see this. If the owner from the top has no direction or ambition for the club then you will just attract players that want a payday.

I think its less about ownership, than it is about leadership. You can succeed purely on the basis of a decent manager having a decent budget and applying decent coaching methods, but what's really needed is a structure within a club that see's it being able to run well on (ironically) a sustainable basis. We hear that word all the time - but we haven't been operating sustainably at all. All we've done is reduce the operating costs that Rahic saddled us with to match the income we generate. We're in a cycle of decline and every new manager means we start again from scratch because of how the club is set up. There's nothing sustainable about that.

Look at the very top end of the food chain. Pep and Klopp succeed as brilliantly as they do - not just because they're excellent managers with good budgets (huge budgets in City's case), they succeed because there's a clear ethos and vision from the top of the club down and other people in key roles are aligned to that vision, and highly capable of delivering it. Then contrast that with Man United - despite appointing some of the world's most proven and successful coaches, and providing sizeable playing budgets, they've being going backwards and backwards. Why? Because they're completely disjointed, lacking in a proper football strategy and the structure to enable a successful coach just isn't there. The scale at this level is different, of course, but its reductive to just expect a formula of Hughes + decent budget = promotion to apply. It may happen, of course, but Sparks/Rupp are responsible for the other tools and resources he'll need to be successful. Part of why we are where we are is precisely because we've underestimated the other key elements beyond manager and budget, in building successful sides.

Our approach is far from being a sustainable approach even on the playing side. It's more of a stop-restart approach. We appoint a manger to take us forward; he assembles a new squad of players who play in his particular style; he fails and is fired and that period comes to a stop. The club restarts with a new manager, a different style of play and a new squad until, well.... And so it continues every 12 or 18 months or so. It's even playing out right now as we type!

If we are to become a successful club, we need a different approach. One which isn't having to be restarted every so often but can be sustained without simply relying upon a new manager being appointed with a 'new' set of ideas and players.

He also said the pkayers looked low in confidence and that could be confidence in themselves, confidence in their team mates, or confidence in the direction of the club

Or it could have been that Hughes made 7 changes which disrupted the side and included a lot of fringe players who won’t be here next season. Most players don’t give a toss about direction of the club, just how much their contract is worth and will their agent get them fixed up for next season.

As a club it is blatantly obvious that we are trying to stay within the salary cap for league 2 clubs. 55% of turn over on your playing budget. Obviously the more you earn, the bigger that budget is. Our reported wage bill of £2.7 million, is ample for this division. Its just been very badly spent the past few seasons. Did we not get relegated from league one with a £4 million wage bill that season of Edin madness.
it's a shame clubs don't get points deducted the following season for breaking the rules, say 5 points for every £100,000
they overspend. It would make clubs like Salford think twice about having one of the largest budgets on some of the smallest crowds. Although they would try and register the players as non dom, or something like that to try and get round it.

They play in the largest stadium, with the largest amount of support in this division. They get paid bonuses based on their performance and measured in wins, assists and the position of the club. They can get additional bonuses if we get promoted. Their XG will demonstrate technical data about their performance. The better performance, then it will be added to their CV and their potential to negotiate a new Contract. The club has just appointed a very experienced Manager, who actively sought out the post at the club.

They didn’t own the ground previously but we’re buying it as part of the new ground deal. Was complex from memory so if it has all fallen through they will be back paying rent

As far as I’m aware you are right. Once again it’s football club wanting a new ground hoping someone else will pay for it. Aka the taxpayer. That I find impossible to agree with .

Neither was Rupp under Grayson, Adams, Bowyer, McCall. All very competent managers at this level but all failed ultimately.

He's hiring and directing the man who's responsible for selecting the people who are picking and coaching the players, then failing at it, then doing it again, failing at it again. Then doing it again and failing at it again.

    Thats how accountability works.

We still don’t have enough football people at the club for my liking.

for us to be sat on 52 points right now is plain embarrassing. 21 POINTS OFF THE PLAYOFFS.

Sparky is in his dead rubber period. The season was over and the club was beyond repair. When will we start seeing some off the field appointments to get us moving in the right direction?

Been away so not totally in the loop but all I’ve seen is Davide Longo getting a promotion? Are we not appointing a recruitment man or is it all on Hughsey’s shoulders?
