I wouldn’t drop him either, personally I think he’s crap when he has time to think but makes very good reaction saves. But reason I wouldn’t drop him is as you have alluded to, we don’t want to promote a culture where players are hounded and dropped by the manager for making mistakes. They are lower league players mistakes will happen, dropping him would send the wrong message to the squad imo. Still doesn’t excuse what he did though, it was like a defender scoring an equaliser then a minute later a shocking own goal.

In the summer it’s a position that needs some attention and consideration because non of them are good enough for a promotion side. Unless Bass improves over the summer.

As a man management thing, I would suggest that a quiet word and then possibly making a change is better than the public throwing under a bus.

I would suggest having a manager accepting that players make mistakes and learn from them would be a good thing. When goalies do make mistakes more than often they are crucial. i expect he was buzzing from his previous save and still had that adrenaline. As he matures he will learn to manage that

Case in point ……Pickford is the opposite, he’s got more rash in the Prem than in the time he was at VP!

Goalkeeper is the toughest position on the pitch, 1 mistake and it normally costs a goal then people forget all of the good saves they made in the match, a striker can make 10 mistakes in a match but score 1 goal and it be the winner yet everyone forgets the 10 mistakes.
Bass is in no way more to blame for the loss than other players. For the penalty itself why are none of the other players reacting to the loose ball. Cook, Cooke and Gilliead all missed big changes which should have been goals but we don't hear people demanding they are dropped.
If it wasn't for some big saves from Bass we wouldn't have won away at Stevenage or Walsall.

The simple fact is that Bass was a needless addition, we already had 2 capable keepers

Probably not the correct thread but we were discussing the keeper position on here so just wanted to comment that Bass was excellent today.

Helped the defence out multiple times by taking a high ball and relieving the pressure.

Excellent response to last weeks mistake and all you can ask for from a player in terms of mentality.
