Forwards either click at clubs or don't, We have signed "Top Forwards" like Doyle who have failed here but scored well elsewhere, Lets give the guy a chance before writing him off, Have seen him play a few times and was always a handful for defences with his height and strength,

Hes crap. Dress it up all you want. Where does he even get into our team? Unless Adams is going to change from a system he’s always used then he’s nothing but an impact sub. We needed a pacey goal scorer who can get in behind defenders. Not a plodder with a 1 in 10 record.

Thing is no club would let anyone go anywhere if their current manager rated them so that argument isn't really valid. Some players just don't hit it off at a club, but do at the next. Jon Stead was hardly tearing up trees when we signed him and Rochdale saw fit to let Gary Jones leave.

I know diddy squat about him, so have no idea if he is any good, but he is 6ft4 and has a lot better physicality than Robinson or Lavery. As for being the same as Cook, he clearly isn't. Cook is not a natural back to goal striker, nor is he a target man that brings other into the game, and he's only playing that way because we have nothing else.

I'll pass judgement on him when I've seen him play, but even if we do have a bigger fan base than anyone else and potentially more money (if we chose to spend it) we were never going to get Dom Telford or Jamile Matt. That's not an acceptance of mediocrity, its an acceptance that at this stage of the season you can only sign players that other clubs are willing to let go.

Fully agree with most of that, we just now need to hope that we set up positively to address that problem.
I’m a firm believer that getting Vernham on the ball out wide, and getting it to him early, is one of our best assets as he he attacks directly with pace.
Our approach and attacking play seems to slow and narrow of late, which contributes to our lack of goals.
With (hopefully) Cook and Elliott up top, we need to get it out wide and let them attack crosses.

Why did we need a pacy goalscorer, have we changed managers/squads with someone else?

Who are these pacey strikers with a one in three record that are available in the January market ?

I'm confident he can go on to be the 1 in 10 striker we've been crying out for!

The new scouting network has provided value for money to date in unearthing players. - not - given that every loan signing according to Adams he has known about them and tracked their progress.

Problem is the way we are playing is the problem. Just swapping Cook with Elliott ain't gonna change that. Like you I don't think it's the worst signing I've seen but let's not kid ourselves that it's someone who's been on the radar for ages. Hes just what's available after Salford deemed him not good enough.
Looks to me like we didn't have any realistic striker targets at the beginning of January.

Maybe in Walker and/or Daly we have the players to benefit from his hold up play.

I agree, but the priority was getting goals around the centre forward as opposed to signing a 20 goal a season striker on our budget.

Depending how our new attacking midfielders do, we might have already improved.

We've been scoring at a higher clip already.

    Another underwhelming signing.

It speaks volumes when a club are willing to get rid of a player to a supposed rival.

Salford are signing the likes of Matt Smith while we get their rejects. We are an absolute joke.

Tom Elliot has always been a handful for defenders on the few times I've seen him and he has the attributes to be a decent target man in League 2. But he isn't a replacement for Angol and I doubt very much that he will add much to our goal tally. We remain short of another recognised goal scorer to take some pressure off Cook (as we did in the last transfer window!) and time is running out. It's not looking hopeful so good luck to Sparks when the season tickets go on sale.

He's massaging the stats by leaving out sub appearances and makes them a complete nonsense. Especially if he's actually scored any whilst coming off the bench.

To add a bit of realism, 4 in 21 is the actual number.

Another non goal scoring striker to go alongside lavery and Robinson.

    Beyond disappointing.

Whose available and doesn't score goals...box ticked player signed....fast forward few months and said player is sat on our bench at best

Have we ? We scored 27 goals in 21 matches at 1.28 a match and in the last 5 have scored 6 at 1.20. Even looking at the three since Walker arrived it's still only 1.33.

    Of course you would.

And just like parkbantam, if we'd have signed Matt Smith instead he'd have been a fantastic signing too and a much better signing than Tom Elliott.

    You're both very predictable.

Ain’t impressed with his scoring record but we clearly need someone who will hold the ball up in the attacking area and if he does that job fair enough ............... not having a go but did folk think that we would get a forward in who scores plenty of goals ???? That type of player costs money and by the looks of it we ain’t got a pot to pee in :(

Perhaps if Lavery & Robinson ever started a match they might score. Coming off the bench for 5 minutes doesn't give them a lot of chance does it.
