Ryan Sparks on The Hard Truth podcast

I have a feeling he will reappear, he comes across to me at least as someone who would love to be on the Apprentice

 

For all his faults he steadied a sinking ship. We all make mistakes, particularly in a new role when stepping up. Who can blame him for accepting the job? The person to blame is Rupp, who lazily promoted from within highlighting once again that he's no interest in pushing us forward. With Sparks lack of experience, Rupp has probably been able to impose rules and expectations that would ordinarily be unacceptable to an experienced CEO. Sparks is now the young son hoping to impress his dad, by trying to prove he can do the job without his help. In the meantime we tread water on the pitch.

Has he steadied a sinking ship? I’m not having a dig at him as I think he’s got a lot right, this might end up being the first season in a while that we won’t finish lower than the previous season, but there’s a massive job, absolutely huge, to get people buying season tickets next season if the next 20 games are as bad as we’ve seen the last couple of months.

 

I'd say he has, in that we should finish higher than last season but nowhere near where we want to be on the pitch. I can't remember which board member on here said in days gone by, we wouldn't know who the CEO was or other board members, only the manager and assistant. That's how it should be in my opinion. The manager is given the budget and it's his job to get us promoted, not the CEO. It's going to be a hard sell anyway to sell season tickets because of the brand of football on offer, but if we do start and climb the table, I'd be happy if Adams did what he did at Morecambe and left.

All Sparks needs to concentrate on is giving the manager a competitive budget and infrastructure to succeed. We as fans shouldn't need to know much more than that in my opinion.

 

Can’t argue with a lot of that mate. Especially the Adams can get us promoted and go, I can see why Morecambe fans weren’t shedding too many tears when he left.

Is that serious or a joke?

 

He’s done well I suspect in his area of expertise marketing and commercial as a football CEO it’s not very good so far is it?
