Ipswich fans seem to think we are in talks to sign their goalkeeper Tomas Holy. He's 30 year old, 6 ft 9, was on loan at Cambridge this season on an emergency loan, played 2 games in the week loan.

Was Gillinghams keeper in L1 for 2 seasons, moved to Ipswich for two seasons and has conceded 60 in 65 since joining. Fell down the pecking order and they signed a keeper from Brighton yesterday.

 

Sounds like a good move especially if we can shift a keeper out...

A much needed position to fill. Good I remember him at Gillingham decent but had a blunder in him but same with all lower league keepers, and r PL keepers all you have to do is watch Villa United for that evidence.

 

Main criticism that seems to be directed at him is he's flatfooted, and when shots come in he fails to react.

Plus side, he's described by Ipswich fans as League One level, although they've been doing quite a bit of work to push him down the pecking order.

Also, we're one of many clubs in for him so we shouldn't expect ROD or Hornby to leave just yet....

Pleased Adams is seeing what we’ve all known we needed for some time. Now a striker, RB and dominant midfielder will tick all the boxes of a decent window.

 

No because if he was, he wouldn't be signing for Salford. Are you saying you would be disappointed if we had signed him?

 

Smith has played at a higher level but has often struggled for goals no matter what level he's at. This happens. Big lads like that can do a similar job in League Two as they do higher up; they're a handful no matter the standard of the defenders. But what we need is someone capable of playing up top who not only 'does a job' but scores goals.

We've actually got that in Cook, although Cook would be way less effective in the Championship than Smith has been. He's not fast, he's not strong, and most Championship forwards have Cook's best attributes in spades.

I think this signing for Salford will flatter to deceive, to be honest. He will play to a reasonable level, he will fluff chances, he will fail to bury headers, and ultimately that isn't what we need. We don't need a Hanson type, but maybe that's what Salford are lacking. I couldn't tell you. Maybe Smith winning the ball up top with Hunter buzzing around on one side, and Thomas Asante on the other is EXACTLY what they require.

Maybe though it will just be an excuse for Bowyer's side to be a bit more direct, which could equally make them a bit less of a threat.

I’m not an ‘ITK’ but a friend of mine has spoken with someone who he claims is ‘ITK’ and has been right before tbf and has said it’s a bit further along than interest and should be announced in the next few days. If not I’ll never post an ‘ITK’ again
