I've been a big fan of Watt but I'm less and less convinced by him each game... technically he's probably the best player in the squad, and he will go on to player higher than most of the others, but all he does it get caught in possession and go for the killer ball each time. I've been crying out for someone to have aword in his ear to just for the love of god play the simple ball most of the time and killer when it counts. Guess it comes with time. At this point though 6 figures and bite their hands off...

 

Failing further signings our season currently clearly hinges on whether Cook is fit or not. If he is we win, if not we don't. Need a big lad up front to put it about for when he's injured, hope we get someone in... Angol isn't up to the role as well as he may do coming off the left.

 

And failing another RB signing we should definitely start Sutton there each week... I know it was against 10 men but it made so much of a difference having someone capable of going on the outside of the Invisible Man, it might almost make his performances / position make sense

 

200 goals in 27 appearances for Hearts I hope we've upped our usual 41k offer to 42k for this one.

And not only is he prolific, he’s a big lad, 6’40” according to Wiki. Fordy won’t like that, 6’40”.

 

I’d be very happy with him! Remember him playing for Blackpool when bowyer was more bothered about clapping their fans than he was putting a side out with a bit of fight!

 

Glad for the win yesterday but I’m becoming less and less convinced by Canavan as a defender and a captain. If you go one on one with him you’ll do him for pace every time. As a leader he isn’t vocal enough. They only players I could see trying to rally the guys during that poor first half, were Ridealgh and Watt. The other concern was Hornby. I called for him to be given a chance but he looks very shaky at best. This is another position that needs to be rectified this window, but will probably have to wait until the summer.

Finally a word on Walker, what a joy to watch someone who knows how to make intelligent runs and look so comfortable on the ball. If the quality of this lad is the standard of the recruitment going forward, then I’m very optimistic for the second half of the season.

It's not just his studs. He is just far too casual lately. Needs to up his effort and awareness

 

I said earlier in this thread, I think once Sutton went to RB, he and Gilliead had a good understanding and were definitely a serious threat down the right. I'm just not 100% convinced by Sutton as a defensive RB, and it also restricts him from making his runs elsewhere

 

I thought Gilliead had a good game not sure who got the MOM but very poor first half . Second half great improvement hopefully “moving on up” Next few games winnable if we can confidently keep up the pressure.

 

A welcome win after the Cumbrian no show but a quick look at the league table shows if you can seriously put a good run of results together the division is wide open re promotion.
At the moment Mansfield Town are a prime example of the above and are going well.
Forest Green Cheats lead the way but have yet to hit a sticky patch.
Quality is lacking in the Division on a whole and if we are to make a push it goes with out saying we must improve all over the park.
Recruitment is key in any club so let's hope we strengthen further in this window on players of Walker's calibre.
More of the O'Connor attitude that's what's required.
