My lad has a season ticket but went to his first game in two months against Colchester due to work commitments. We used to go to every game at home and most away. He was completely ambivalent to it all, its sad seeing how he's become apathetic while not even being in a position to watch. With the owner having no real ambition other than to not put any money in this sentiment has transfered itself to the terraces. A league where the entertainment is generally lacking due to poor football standards and no games of note to get remotely excited about. I'm definitely in the wait till the end of the season camp before I decide if I buy another. At the moment it's just not worth the hassle.

'Work commitments'. He would probably be going as he has his season ticket but he has mentioned he isn't missing it. No way to gloss over it, 16th in league 2 isn't a vehicle to sell season tickets. The football is generally shite.

So senior figures at the club talked Rupp out of it to save their own jobs?

This a very article regarding the whole saga, does actually say rupp might have been “economical” with the truth, but then goes to say
The Athletic, on the other hand, has been in contact with senior sources at the EFL and they had not heard of WAGMI United until Thursday. And when the project was explained to them, they were neither progressive nor excited.”

    Heres a kicker though

“Getting back to the plan, Smith told The Washington Post the group wants to let “soccer people make soccer decisions”, which is why the link with StatsBomb is important.

Small problem: Bradford are one of nine League Two and 17 League One clubs who already subscribe to StatsBomb. It costs them £850 a month. Pretty much every Championship and Premier League club use StatsBomb, too, as well as several other similar services. Not quite the slam-dunk hoped for,

I'm a bit late to the party but having just read wetherbywhaler's comments from last week, how out of touch is he with us plebs if he's taking offence at very fair and balanced criticism of the shitshow presided over by herr Rupp? Making the excuse that Rupp has been unable to come to Bradford due the pandemic is utter bollocks. I managed to have a holiday in Greece and travel to the USA for family reasons when Brits weren't even allowed there. I had my visa cancelled the morning of my flight to JFK so applied and paid for another one. I had to negotiate with US Homeland Sec officers based at Heathrow and give them valid reasons and proof for travel. I paid for my Covid tests. It was pretty fecking easy all things considered. I earn £25k pa. If I can do it, a man worth £100m + certainly can. Where there's a will.......sadly, there doesn't seem to be one with Rupp. I'm not sure these NFT WAGMI Yanks were the answer. I also know Rupp isn't either based on the last 5 year's lived experiences. If I'd been swanning around various EFL hospitality suites for the last few years whilst others scrape together what they can to watch City, I'd show a bit more humility. Then again, I'm not a businessman.....

Our values = be 'sustainable' so Rupp can invest nothing and milk £30k a month out of us to spend on his real interests

Are we sure we aren't in danger of swinging too far the other way in terms of sustainability?

Sustainability is CLEARLY a good idea, boom or bust is a terrible idea, and somewhere in between the idea of calculated investment is the best idea of all.

I do find the mockery of 'let's not be another Bury' really, really dense though. We don't actually want to be another Bury, and simply laughing at the idea makes no sense.

This club of all clubs should never again overreach, and the fact that other clubs routinely overreach and jeopardise their very existence isn't something we should be envious of.

Sensible investments, yes, but the second you start talking about 'investments' you're talking about getting a return on that investment, and then it's all too easy to say "yeah but this is football, you don't make money in football".

Lawn was right to give the club a million pound loan, and he was right to take it back when we could afford it. That's business, and Bradford City is a business, not a charity aimed at putting smiles on the faces of 12,000 diehards.

I wish all the nay sayers and doom and gloom merchants would just give it a rest and remember that, even if it’s just for today it could be worse and you could be in my f@cking shoes……

Good point, BUT Wigan & Bolton both suffered points deductions and were relegated in the process. They were in higher divisions so could live with it. A points deduction and relegation would mean our Derby is Halifax Town (assuming they don't actually pass us on the way down).

They don't come much more senior than Twitter Boy and if he quit then we have at least ten other Twitter Boys ready to take over. If Sparks were to quit over this then I say do it and do it now.

Great article from 'The Athletic', I'm now happy to say I was wrong to show any enthusiasm in the proposed takeover.
I'm confident after reading that and especially the comments following the article that it could have been disastrous to have gone along with this.
It is still hoped though that Rupp would listen to any further genuine offers and soon..!!

Yes, better analytics from the likes of statsbomb and others in that sector is part of the modern world of footie. Ask Matthew Benham about this who has been using something very similar at his club for several years now and as you say, even our club is now a subscriber. Despite what has been inferred, it isn't something which the Crypto Kids have suddenly come across as the next pot of gold. Had they a more informed background of 'soccer' in England, they'd have already understood this.
