Agree Bronco but wonder on what scale he will act.Timely words of commitment but his actions will need to have significance.

I reckon he'll be more likely pissed off that 2 weeks prior to the Jan transfer window when we need to strengthen the team whilst probably keeping inside the budget, someone has come along and said that they were going to buy us and outspend everyone else starting in January. His way might be sensible but it doesn't seem very exciting in comparison.

Oh no, i wasn't on about me talking to you or vice versa! Sorry, I meant that as a chairman sometimes they become a target sometimes rightly and sometimes wrongly. Like if he says something it can be a reason to dislike him. Personally I believe that is what he is worried about. Normally people who like to wind up or argue do so by doing the opposite of keeping quiet! :joy:

Our owner doesn't want to tell us a damn thing, re his second statement
"The matter is closed and our attention returns to what is truly important as we build towards a strong second half of the season and aim to achieve our draws (oops, i mean goals).

At least our values are being upheld.
Erm, not sure myself what upholding our values actually means.

I’m almost ashamed to post this but, I’m going to start at the beginning to justify my love for all things BCFC!
I started watching City in 85, the year of the fire, promotion, Bobby, Hendrie, McCall, Ellis et al.
Since then it’s been one hell of a ride, I’d go home & away, Patsy & Tiny coach tours, the fights, the emotions, the sheer joy at being a city fan! Out singing the Sunderland fans at Roker, same at St James park followed by pitched battles outside. The nearly season, I actually think the first 11 were better than the team who eventually gained promotion to the top tier. Some big lows, some huge highs!
    Bantam progressivism at its best........
BUT, I can’t be arsed any more, I don’t want the club to be fiscally responsible, if that floated my boat I’d bang my season ticket money into an ISA!
I’m actually a bit jealous of fans like @Park bantam@Park bantam, I’ll probably get a season ticket again next year, don’t think I’ll go again this season though! Mrs Meltham will yet again question my sanity about paying for something I never use.
Win or die trying, I’d rather the club went bust trying than just accept bloody sh*te 4th tier football.
We’re not Rochdale, I can’t cope with apathy, decades in the same crap league, being grateful we’re not Bury.......
Well and here’s the big nasty admission, I’d rather we reached for the stars and died trying above financial stability and mid table mediocrity year on year, I’ve found better things to do on a weekend, I’d rather have no club than the cr*p currently served.
Mr Chairman, get your wallet out or F**k off.

I don’t think it has to be as extreme as going bust just because we actually put some outside investment into the club, how many clubs outsize actually go bust? Even the likes of Wigan and Bolton with all their financial issues always seem to find a way out of it and still find a way to be way above us and our ‘sensible’ approach. Many companies including football clubs take on manageable debt to grow it, it’s something that seems to scare the life out of some on here because of one person 20 years ago.

The key word being 'manageable'. I'm certainly not opposed to that. 20 years ago though showed how what seems to be manageable can suddenly, from events outside your control, become the opposite. There has to be more investment on the playing side of things, players and staff, no question about that. But the monies have to be spent wisely, and that is where we've failed miserably under Rupp's watch (as we did, ultimately, under Richmond).

    Firstly, great post.

Personally I don't have that sense of apathy at the moment (I did during the Taylor era) but I can't say that I've fully re-engaged with the club as much as I thought I would after 18 months of no football and that is entirely to do with events on the pitch.

Where I am becoming apathetic is in relation to football as a whole because, from a financial perspective, it's absolutely screwed and fans shouldn't be forced to choose between "Win or die trying... vs ...bloody sh*te 4th tier football." because both of those options are ultimately rubbish. Hopefully the Crouch report might make a bit of difference but I'm not going to hold my breath.

In other key non playing areas he did not replace or bring in the same quality and we did not bring in younger players for development by paying fees as someone like Barnsley did.

April 86 my first game. I've been to one of the last 5 home games and I'm not in the slightest bit bothered around what the season holds. I've already made plans for Boxing Day so even if the game is on, I won't be there.

There is absolutely nothing that would stop me going to matches other than possible poor health. Providing its on really looking forward to Boxing Day a,ways a great day for a match. The highs when we do well makes up for the poor stuff we watch.

I think more and more fans are doing the same. Not only because of the results but the general lack of excitement around the club. Bang average players who are injured most of the time, poor quality squad members, 1 up front etc. Even outside of football and the impending covid lockdown. Life is just so dull that football really isn't the escape it once was.

Our values = keep things cheap, lets not be another Bury.

I'm not being facetious, thats our club mantra.
