Where did the money for big fees for John McGinley, Tony Adcock, Mohan/Ward/Ormondroyd, Mark Schwarzer come from? Big fees by today's standards for us, wasn't John McGinley £650,000?

Like you I generally hold WOAP at arms length but reading the WOAP article does raise some issues surrounding WAGMI-especially the tweets and perceived lack of basic understanding of who owns the ground etc. I don't do twitter so cannot comment personally but for anyone who does-did they really tweet some stupid stuff?

If Jason didn't make up the tweets bit then the article is actually reasonable factual and balanced.

 

Bar Forest Green it doesn't look the best division. There's certainly an opportunity there.

Next season will be tougher with potentially two of Chesterfield/Wrexham/Stockport splashing the cash.

 

If ever there was a time to show his commitment to us it has to be after making these comments in this statement more so his last comment:
“As a proud custodian of this wonderful football club, my first and most important responsibility is to protect it and safeguard its long-term future, while upholding our values.

“I, and certainly no one else connected to this football club, is actively trying to promote its sale, and my commitment has not changed.

“The matter is closed, and our attention returns to what is truly important, as we build towards a strong second half of the season and aim to achieve our goals.

It's an opinion on the failed takeover and it seems a well balanced article. Don't always agree with the stuff in WOAP but that seems a good summary.

So we're supposed to believe he's suddenly really invested in our season/club, right after he accepted a bid on us but backed out because he wanted to play hero to the local media? Sure. Can't wait for us to sign some more...(hang on let me check who's bottom)..uh exceptional talent from Scunthorpe United! Another huge January window!

Wonder if we can keep up the consistency of finishing lower and lower in the division each season since Rupp took up the role of 'custodian'.

On your second point I disagree too, not sure he does not speak out of malice. Reading this thread is testament to why its better to stay away to be honest.

 

They did Tweet the bits mentioned in the article, yes. “Explain who this is to me as if im five” etc RE the Adams picture. Then asking what a Bantam was etc.

I also saw one of them posting links to Bad Boy Chiller Crew.

It was at that point I thought they weren’t being professional and that it was all a wind-up.

Don’t get me wrong, I like listening to bbcc myself a bit and the ITV2 documentary is funny, but if you are deadly serious about buying a football club you don’t start releasing jovial Tweets when potentially trying to earn respect of the fans from the team you are supposedly buying.

It sounds like they were just a bunch of computer nerds who had earned themselves a nice little cumulative pot from bashing one out over bitcoin but didn’t properly understand the market they were going into, nor the club they were trying to buy.

They’ve got a bit of attention from it though, and so have City, which is no bad thing.

 

Its balanced in terms of assessment of the offer. However I don't think its anywhere near robust enough in terms of challenging what Rupps intentions are going forward.

 

If he didn’t care about the club he would have sold out to the Americans wouldn’t he? I think he should be given credit for that.

I said he could be but not that he is. As I said, and I shall say again, no one has any idea because no one has had much interaction with him over the last few years.

And of course, disengaging is always better than trying to have a reasoned argument. (that was sarcasm, just to be clear). We don't have to agree on everything and that's the main problem on here - everyone who makes a point wants everyone else to agree with them and then gets angry when they don't. It's just some weird nirvana wish that never will happen.

There are many people on here that I've disagreed with or argued with but in a different thread on a different topic if they say something I agree with then I'll say so! We can't all agree on every topic and it's actually nice to hear things from different perspectives because I feel that I learn more, which is one of the reasons for being here-to broaden one's own views!!

 

I’m clutching at straws here, but maybe the crypto group aren’t the only one we’re speaking to, and Rupp was using it as leverage against another interested party, which is why he was so pissed at it going public….?

 

Knowing us, it will be a Saudi loan shark operation. Sorry, financial services operation.

 

100% agree and unfortunately it's not just the fans with this mindset. It's actually filtered down to them from those within the club.
