Is there anyone in this forum with any kind of power or influence to get Rupp over here for an open fans forum.
Questions need asking and we deserve answers on why the investment is lacking

I'd argue that the model has righted the ship, which was badly needed, and now (to merrily mix metaphors) provided the base on which to build again. Yes, we do need more now from our owner, or we need a new owner along the lines of Benham or even MacAnthony. We're recovering from the Rahic experiment; some could argue we're still recovering from the Richmond experiment. This group would have made us yet another experiment. We really do *not* know what we could have had with them.

In other words, the Rahic plan! The theory is fine; if only we could find the proper person/people to implement it. In addition, as @JonButterfield suggests, a DoF type to oversee all football operations.

Rahic's plan was sound, he was just completely wrong in being the person to execute it.

 

It was an attempt to do it on the cheap as some of the recruits and shedding of personnel showed. Again investment was lacking in key areas.

 

We bought Lee Sharpe.

 

That was after the season was over, we paid £250,000 for him in the Summer.

During the promotion season he was on loan.

I dont think im being defensive at all. You have stated that Rupp is petty, based off what? The fact the takeover didn’t happen? I have not seen anything to suggest that he is and was mearly asking where you had seen it before to make that assumption?

if someone says to others “the process has been ongoing for X months” most reasonable people would put the record straight. You would correctly say no hang on thats not true.

He had nothing to gain by lying. If he was really that petty he would read this forum and mothball the club. If he was that petty he wouldn't have sacked Edin.

that being said i do agree with you about him engaging more, im not sure why he doesn’t maybe he cant be bothered or doesn’t like public attention or something? But either way as an owner he does need to show his face more. I don't think he realises that fans want someone who is visible and also reassuring.

 

I don't think it was a lack of cash - he spent plenty. He just signed the wrong players and tried to be way too involved.

Indeed. And if you've ever had the misfortune to work under someone like that, then you'll know that the damage such people cause takes much longer to repair than create. It's not only the finances of the organisation that suffer, but staff and their morale take a big hit as well. You stop doing the little extras that all work requires, you gradually lose heart and stop caring... You can't switch that all back on as if a light. It's why I have to agree with Wetherby's opinion that it will take 5 years to fully recover. I as much as anyone else want a light-switch type recovery, but that's speaking from the heart, not the head.

We apparently had the third highest spend in league 1 in our relegation season. Just horribly spent.

It's not much of a surprise that Rupp isn't likely to throw cash at it based on his prior experience of the approach.

You asked if it was possible that he could just call things off on a whim and I answered it is possible knowing many senior people in business and how many of them behave.

As I then went on to say, we don't know how he behaves because we've rarely seen him.

And the point about engaging with this forum well that's exactly what those ego driven type individuals won't do, they'll just forget the comment or person exists, ignore it and go and do whatever they want as they have the money to do that. They don't engage, they just ignore and move on leaving others to get angry while they don't care.

 

And yet, other clubs manage to recover from such toxicity much more quickly. Blackpool, Coventry.

Personally, I think we just like making excuses to give ourselves a pass.

During Stefan's rein as co-owner or owner we have had 5 seasons of decline yet 12,000+ once again back their club/team, as you say it's all about trust but having promoted Ryan to the position of CEO and Ryan then appointing Adams surely he should be backing both with a cash injection come the January transfer window.
