    Interesting take.

Bantam Talk likes to be inclusive. We welcome a wide range of views on City and other related subjects and indeed in General chat ‘the world and the universe’.
However from time to time (very often in some cases), some members embark on personal ‘attacks’ of other members. These are often removed.
It is clear that there are sometimes diametrically opposed views. That members have closed minds to alternative views. That is their pejorative.
Some posters, frankly do not want to see what some others say, but in the whole enjoy aspects of the message board and are informed by what they read (Bantam Talk is a good indicator of views).
So to help those who have had enough of certain posters, then here is the option to be a member, but to filter out some of the posters, who they have ‘had enough of’!

    To 'ignore' someone:
    • Go the 'Members' page. https://bantamtalk.com/index.php?members/
    • On the right hand side of the page is a box 'Find Member'. Type the name, i.e. Bantam WUM
    • Their avatar details will appear. Click on this.
    • On the right hand side of the page is a list; Report, Ignore, Follow
Hit the Ignore button and you will not receive any posts from them! You can always change your preference if you wish to do so.

I will tag @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler into this post. Personally I like different opinions and although I don’t always agree with members, it creates a broad view, rather than a myopic platform where everyone has an identical point of view.

Maybe it was Rupp who leaked the offer hoping to flush out other bids that are rumoured to be around

We're not merely average. We're currently poor. No wins since October. One clean sheet since October. Ten of our 26 points were in August - since then we've amassed 16 points in three and a half months, which is relegation form.
It's not necessary to be battered 3-0 frequently to be a poor team. Bryan Robson's City team were rarely battered but kept drawing or losing 1-0 and were relegated. The start in August now looks like an aberration - like the freak mid season winning run under Hopkin - rather than the norm. We are playing quite well in bursts but can't sustain it over whole games. At one point we were missing chances for fun; now we're not even creating many.

I'm usually a glass half full supporter. But I can't see any basis to think that this squad can suddenly transform itself into a consistently winning outfit to get into the playoffs. I think it's much more likely that we'll finish above the relegation places unless there are several good reinforcements brought in in January, which will require our owner to splash some cash. I think most City fans feel likewise. Other than the small minority on here who are hysterical most of the time and should be ignored, most of the comments made to Roger Owen were merely pointing out what I've described above. We're a club in decline, or at very best stagnating. It's not hysterical to point that out.

I'm not sure what your point is Rod? I have never ignored anyone on here and will never put anyone on ignore. I know some on here love Roger for his 'behind the scenes' viewpoint, I dont have a problem with his content nor anyone else's on here bar the odd incident. But being on a forum you have to expect people will disagree with your content from time to time no matter how much you think you are always right.

Theres a MASSIVE difference between wanting success and bootlicking the first public buyer that comes along. Who really seems to be scrupulous at best. Do you honestly think these guys are the only people who will be interested in Bradford city?

I've no idea. I just know that Rupps tenure has been that bad, and our prospects look that bleak, I'd settle for just about anyone else at this point.

I'm talking about being average on a game-by-game, performance-by-performance basis.

You're talking about being poor across a whole season, and I concede you're right about that; but they're different arguments. Yes of course you can't draw every game, in most divisions that will get you relegated - but at the same time none of our opponents are going to walk away from a game saying "they're a really poor side, they'll be getting relegated" unless they just happen to be staring at the league table. Again, game-by-game we are anything but poor, and there is nothing more average than being equal to almost every club around us.

I also don't see this team turning it round and going on a winning run, and while it's frustrating that we haven't seen enough of the Cook/Angol partnership and that Eisa looks like Zeli mk. 2, it's not an excuse. Our squad isn't good enough to launch a sustained assault on the play off spots, and I'm sure we're both in agreement on that. But we are just a goal-a-game extra from winning the majority of our games. We've drawn more than we've won and lost combined, which is an eye wateringly tedious statistic.

I do think it's hysterical to write this squad off as poor, and I think it's hysterical to boo draws against teams higher in the table than we are. But there's a reason our fans' expectations are so high, and I don't totally blame the fans for it. If the club is going to make all this fuss about signing the best manager in the division, a proven winner, a multiple-time promotion winner, then we have to see some of that at the games, and we're not.

Rupp CAN affect that by augmenting this side with a couple of really talented players... but not based on what he's said so far. We tried to bring in a shoestring manager to work on a budget, and it hasn't worked to the extent the club clearly wanted - YET. But there's still time, and Adams should get next season in my eyes. But without support from Stefan, he's fighting a losing battle. Whether it's higher wages or loans or transfer fees I care not. Things must improve.

    Totally agree.

I read a lot and although some posts are……well far removed from my personal view, I cope with it.

Just put the point to address the issue of trying to make Bantam Talk as accessible as possible to everyone who has an interest in City.

Also to highlight a mechanism to avoid seeing posts from people you would rather not.

I guess I don’t read a paper cover to cover, as some sections don’t interest me, and I can work out what the content is likely to be.

A fans forum is far more interactive, but then some would not wish to interact with each other!

Geoffrey Richmond got the club to the premiership, great days and no one complained at the time but he built his house on borrowed money and when it went tits up , well we the fans have suffered ever since.
Mark Lawn is a genuine City fan and lent the club £1,000 000 and he wanted to do ir intrest free i beleve, junior insisted on it being on a commercial footing and a 9% per annum interest rate - £90, 000 per year, so yes i will give you Mark Lawn.
It is a shame he did not have the finanmce to own the club entirely. He did though, reluctantly make money out of the club.
So as i said no one has actually put any real money into the club for years.

And the next bid will most likely be another Rahic and accepted if our history is anything to go by…

This place is as tame as it gets believe me. Theres the odd time it flares up but generally people get on and the debate is respectful just like it is now with the debate we are having about the takeover. Honestly, if I thought someone was getting a hard time I'd speak up myself but that genuinely doesn't happen on here, the place is well moderated. But like any place where debate is undertaken, whether it be the pub, at work, at the game etc we have to accept differences of opinion. And at times there are posters who don't, at times myself included, it's something I've made a conscious effort to learn to do. Even with Fordy :joy:

Was out yesterday so haven’t kept up with things, just briefly read bid rejected. That is Rupps right to do so, but if you’re going to give romantic talk about being a custodian of a great club as he did when Rahic left(and we’ve fallen even further since despite receiving £3mil+ from a player sale) then you have to back it up by action. January is officially the final straw and the group I attend with, invest in the club of F off and sell to the first buyer if you have to because I’m at that stage where he’s been so bad I don’t see it getting much worse except if he stays and continues down this sustainable path which brings the likes of Robinson and Lavary to the club, then we’ll eventually fall through the trap door and that’ll be us finish. If he doesn’t show some action to actually achieve Sparks’ promotion demands or sell than as I said the other day that is me done until he is gone. His sustainable budget will be that much smaller and let’s see how many others follow suit if we finish bottom half.

Geoffrey Richmond is the best thing ever to happen to this club. Yes it all came crashing down, but at least we had the ride instead of languishing for ever in the lower tiers. We're where we are now because of Rupp, not Richmond. Hes been a disaster.

No one can predict what would have happened if BFG had not turned up at Valley Parade. We could have had some success who knows? But I'll guarantee we'd never have got anywhere near the heights of the premiership, that day at Wolverhampton just a constant pipe dream. Unfortunately we can't take the good bits of Geoffrey without the bad but it's clear as day, he gave this club the best period in its history.

Indeed. That promotion season will stay with me forever. It'll have to, to be fair, because it ain't happening again.

It can still be achieved this season but will take an owner with a massive ball sack to fund a January turnaround. And make no mistake, its gonna be harder next season with the teams coming down and the ambitious teams in the national league coming up.
