I'm not sure that we will get a proper understanding of what is intended until after the purchase of the club has gone through if at all. It's all a bit emperor's new clothes at the moment

If it happens, whether the sale is conducted in pounds, dollars or crypto is of little relevance to fans. It's a matter for the buyer and the seller to sort out between themselves. Personally, I couldn't give a toss.

Of more interest is how the use of NFTs as a revenue stream is used. They will be tapping into fan loyalty for NFTs whether that's for the likes of memorabilia or player shares or even buying some kind of 'share' in the club. But either way the money for the NFTs will come out of fans' pockets. As an aside NFTs are being sold between $10k and $50k for the the acquisition of some designer trainers. Trainers that aren't being manufactured, can't be worn or even stuck in the wardrobe for later. They are virtual. But people are buying them all the same

Hopefully if the club can use analytics in a more productive manner, we will be able to do a Brentford. Of course, the fact that Matthew Benham is a long term fan and has put over £100m of his own money into Brentford has helped more than a little! Although it's all very sketchy at the moment and may never happen, I haven't seen or read anything that there is a pot of cash sitting there waiting to be invested in the club to take it forward.

We could be in for an exciting ride .. or maybe just an enormous flop. The next month or two will decide things once we have a better understanding of their intentions.

Ps I do hope they know we don't own our ground and that we train at a school! ;)

You realize Brentford are owned by a sports gambler and analytics expert, right? Another 'nerd' specialising in statistics, data, graphs, etc.

I hope some on here are aware that the crypto market it like any other. It’s quite possible these guys made a lot and cashed out a chunk into traditional currency and kept more than their original investment still attracting more increases

Absolutely weird they've picked us though....or Sutton. Sutton for Gods sake? It does smell of publicity. I see their Tik Tokker is also one of these wanna be boxing types (who go on to make millions of online revenue). I'll ask my 12 year old and 11 year old kids if they've heard of him. If they have, then it's definitely a publicity stunt!

OK, here's a transcript of a couple of football questions towards the end of the @Pixelvault_ townhall which happened just prior to the one that was advertised on here. It was pitched at their existing crypto community rather than a football fans and definitely had an international audience. The guy answering all the questions can be found on Twitter @Gfunkera86 and promised more updates in the near future:

Q (from USA) – [paraphrasing the question because it meanders a bit but the person starts off by saying that they’ve followed the PL for a couple of years and are familiar with the league structure re promotion/relegation etc] What’s the outline for the project? Is the idea to build from a low base and then the NFT community will buy in and it will be the team of “the people”? Will it be something like we will have the Pixelvault logo on the jersey and bridge the gap between real life and the original fans of that SOCCER team and the new fans coming in to that sector?

A – Yes, well obviously we can’t predict who will support us but I would hope that as sort of the first truly crypto native team then all of those in the NFT space would get behind this team. As I said earlier, this is a group that sort of formed organically, meeting with one another at NYCNFT and other events and communicating on Twitter and Discord. So, these are almost down to the last person or group, a very crypto native group. Yes, Pixelvault will be a sponsor of a kit but we’re not going to be messing with the logo and the branding of the team, we do have some things in the works for sponsors in terms of the kits themselves and how they might be designed in a collaborative fashion but all of this will take very great care to honour the legacy of the team that we’re acquiring. That said, it’s hard to speculate long term but the more eyes that we can bring to this team and show the utility that NFT’s can have, I think we will continue to onboard new eyes to the space and hopefully the success of the team really enables further acquisitions in this space and I know that our own group plans to do things just beyond this single club assuming that we’re able to achieve success here. So, it’s still very early on in the process but yes, I think we have all the right pieces and all the right people at the tale to make this a very successful proposition for the community at large.

[There’s a bit of follow up about what the perception of this might be from other teams in the league and a question if “kit” means jerseys etc]

A – I’m trying to be true to English football and not call them “soccer” and “jerseys”… Yes, see I’m already on the campaign not to have us chased out of England on day 1. Some of the people of the old guard are probably going to think that we’re coming in there and we’re idiots but I think that very quickly they will see that we take this very seriously and we care about the legacy of this team and just want it to have success.

Q (from Europe, I’m guessing German from his accent and phrasing?) [Starts off talking about how there are a lot of oil millionaires and billionaires owning clubs specifically in England and so a community model is much more ethical] Can you shed some light on this collaboration? I know it’s very early days but how is it going to manifest? As a PV [assume that means Pixelvault] holder, what can we do, what should we expect?

A – So it’s a group of about 50 of us, crypto native, we’re taking the task of football operations extremely seriously, there are a lot of brilliant sports minds as part of the group. We were very much expecting the reviews to be mixed, obviously if you’re part of the crypto culture or you’re in the States this probably sounds great to you but we’re expecting a lot of blowback there, locally. But, I think that once they get to know us and see all of the different things we have planned and sort of reward people that are there in person, it makes access much easier, continuing to improve on field performance, hopefully reinvesting the money back in to the team that we will win them over with that action. There’s probably not much that we can say today to change their minds about our goals for this project and building a legacy… continuing a legacy of this team. Hard to win everyone over on day 1 but I assure you that we take the legacy and the performance of the team very seriously. That’s pretty much all I can commit to today but we have things planned that we believe will help the fans in the home city of the club that we’re purchasing and so if we can get them on our side and convince them that we have pure intentions then I think slowly we will win over the local group of fans and we will certainly bring a lot more international attention and viewership to the club. That’s the broad view for this club.

[Follow up question about how a PV holder can contribute]

A – It’s too early to commit to anything, PV owns a small stake of the team [I assume by team he means WAGMI] we’re also going to be one of the technical partners, helping to implement some of the initiatives of the team but since nothing is announced, it’s still too early to discuss anything like that but certainly there will be ways for our community to interact with the club.

I was being a bit facetious.
Like everybody on this forum ( bar rcbantam) I want us to be successful. We’re all p!ssed of about the state of the club but this whole thing is using terms and phrases that the majority of us have no idea about.
Seems a bit sudden and until it is all done and dusted it remains a bit strange to me.

They'll keep him for a bit for comedy value. Then sack him and wheel in some gung ho American coach who has all the gear and no idea to take over. Think Bob Bradley from Soccer AM.
