How long before we put Belgium on the red list?

 

The fear is one of these new variants is going to live up to the greatest fears of scientists and medics alike and have a detrimental effect on the 'ill' and 'vulnerable' and the many unvaccinated across the globe.

Apathy, complacency and derision, in a kind of way, I hope continue to come to the fore.

I notice HIV/AIDS has been dropped into some stories in order to generate more fear. This variant could have come from someone who has HIV as many people in southern Africa have the virus.

Sajid Javid was asked on a number of occasions by Labour MPs to bring back masks on the back of this news.

They are however making a rod for their own back. If they start claiming his is vaccine resistant then people will say, why bother with a booster then, and we are seeing people coming back from South Africa having to quarantine regardless of vaccine status which will again only cause divisions as some look to push their case which ever side of the fence they sit, what's the point of a vaccine if I still have to quarantine has already been mentioned on one radio station today.

Is this the country we are shitting ourselves over letting people in from. Shouldn't the fear be the otherway round?

Testing is lower, however the deaths stack up to a low number of cases. It's not like France where they claim a fifth of our cases but have the same number of people in hospital.

 

So here we are again.

Back to doing slight restrictions that we know don't make a difference because they're too scared to go full lockdown or do nothing at all. All because of some mystery new variant whose real world properties are currently unknown.

Mandatory mask wearing in shops and on transport can't stop this thing. Travel restrictions can't keep it out. We all know these things at this point.

So the only possible reason to bring back masks in selected settings is behavioral. It sets people off again to start the ball rolling on "it's only a mask", "it's only a shop" but anybody who has paid attention knows that isn't only where it stops. They're checking compliance levels for whatever will happen next.

This is a compliance check. If they announced plan B last night like the media were demanding over and over again, the outcry would have been massive as covid passports are so pointless that even people who are double jabbed are back in isolation coming back from abroad.

If compliance with this is high it will be rolled out to more settings, if not then Boris knows he is screwed.

In Germany they are seeing massive spikes with high quality masks mandated, by the sound of it we are going back down the route of a B&M special, absolutely pointless.

 

And people know it’s pointless. Just been into the supermarket and at most 10% of people wearing them, which is fairly typical anyway. Most people have had enough and are now starting to see through the charade. Some won’t let it go though.

 

I said to a mate Friday it’ll be about a month after the new ‘super’ variant is announced here, a few pointless measures before they say we’ve done all we can but have been forced into it. I’m getting Deja Vu. Look forward to see where the variant is from next year.

 

One could suggest the big reaction to two case of a variant that came from South Africa but is showing little issue there could be just the thing our government needs to shift focus away from people drowing in the English Channel and the bad press recieved there.
