It might have been better if you'd offered a point of view so people can also debate how you stand on Dereks thoughts?

I can see where he's coming from. It is quite a remarkable stat that only one of the top seven at this point last year ended up promoted. I guess the point he's making is that it's possible to peak too early. If we're able to get a decent finisher in in January to convert all these good chances we're currently wasting then he may have a point. But it's a big if.
On the other hand, points on the board are points on the board, whenever you get them.

That top seven stat does make me slightly more hopeful that we could still force our way into the reckoning if we can find a way to score the goals that our play suggests we should.
Adams is clear that he wants to improve the squad in January and he's certainly not panicking. It seems to me that we are two or three players away from being a promotion squad so it'll be interesting to see if we can stay in touch with the leaders and kick on from January.

Here you go again with your 'dancers'. Seems to me the only dancer here is you, dancing round giving me an answer to the question I've asked you four times. The simple fact is you haven't a clue and more important you can't substantiate your ridiculous accusation. Either come forward with something which supports your nonsense or shut up.

He gets a prize for stating the bleeding obvious. In fairness he's right, anything could happen from now till the end of the season. And I think he realises, after various quotes over the the last couple of months, that this squad of players isn't good enough. It's what is done to change these weaknesses that will determine our season.

For it to be successful, you would need analysis and analytics teams. Having one person in charge just moves the problem. What happens if the DoF gets poached or sacked? So really you want a team with access to the best data to make the best signings. Any less you would be paying people to watch youtube.

Charton owner wanted to sell for years and couldnt find a buyer.

Blackpool only changed hands because the convicted rapist had to sell the club when the courts ruled he illegally stripped the club in 2010. He owed £31M.

pretty sure bolton went into admin first.

Don't hold your breath. @Bronco@Bronco and I are still waiting for proof that he paid his forfeit to the Burns Unit after losing our bet that Jake Reeves would appear in our first team before Christmas 2018.

Dance while the stuck record ‘sustainability’ spins.

Look when a manager can come in an rip things up you and put nee processes in place then you know a club has been badly run.

A manager that’s not even getting RESULTS by the way.

Seems a very selective view on things.

I'd probably also want to sell if the fans were disrupting every home game.

Bottom line is we are a reasonably sound (financially) football club that is stuck in the bottom division. We have no right to be anywhere else and the owner, whilst not perfect, is at least not taking out of the club.

We just have to bide our time, give DA the chance to reshape the squad in his image and then we should start to progress. At this point, 10th and 3 points off the play offs isn't a disaster and two wins from our next two games will put a totally different spin on it. Get to 35 points by halfway and lets see what happens in the second half of the season.

The CEO is a novice, but as long as he butts out of the football side of things and lets DA get on with it, then he can do what he does best which is soundbites and organising the commercial side of things.

How is it a 'selective view'?

Oldham haven't sold the club. cant sell if no one is buying.
look at derby, no one was willing to take on the clubs debt so had to be put into admin, before someone was willing to buy.

if you have a nasty owner nothing stopping them from doing a bury or just put the club into admin, like Wigan owners did.

'Fan Power' doesn't exist. only time I've seen it work is with the ESL, and that had nothing to do with the owners of current clubs. look at man utd and the glazers there was a movement but now has since petered off.

Ultimately some fans like the notion they can make a difference but southend didn't stop going into non-league, Wigan still got deducted 12 points. Bury still got liquidated even after a fan chained herself to a pipe. Blackpool fans boycotted the club for years but only when the courts stated that the owner needed to pay £31m, he didn't sell up administrators stepped in and then sold the club.

there is no legal mechanism for fans to do anything and why would an owner lose money just because of some unhappy fans?

if anything thinking fans can change things in itself is a selective view.

Ryan Sparks is doing a good job on turning the fortunes of the club round of the pitch with some good appointments and the work they are doing is bringing in the coin.
On the football side when he took over we were going south he has appointed probably the best option possible as manager and we wait to see till the end of season if that pays off.

Well, we have three scouts in the building. I'm sure they are using some form of analytics, but even if they're not, in League Two I'm sure judgement is enough, no?

For me, with a manager and three scouts in place, with an academy that has recently produced a few young players, we are ONLY missing a DoF.

On tonight's performance, if Adams was the best, I would really hate to have appointed the second best

no its not, look at Turnbull. how many signings has he brought in this summer that have just been absolutely awful?

They aren't the clubs scouts they are DA’s scouts.

Turnbull's gone, so his lack of success is as relevant as that of Archie Christie's (RIP).

If those scouts are Derek Adams', he can take them with him when he goes - and at that point, we should install a DoF (one extra cost), a new coach (replacement) and new scouts employed by the club (replacements).

Either way, a DoF isn't going to cost 'millions', and there isn't some massive superstructure required to get the best out of a DoF either.

I disagree, if it was as simple as you make out, more clubs would be doing it and doing it well. A director of football would not solve our immediate problems. How many directors of football are out of work at the minute? We would have to find them, and if they are currently in work they would cost a fortune as the current club would still need them. As confident as you are can you name any that would be a good fit into our current style of play? And what would we do if he said the rest of his recruitment team had to come with him?

The clubs that actually do it good are the teams who spend millions to actually find the players they need. Barnsley, Brentford and Norwich pump so much money into it. If you find a bargain DoF all you get are bargain players.

you get what you pay for.
