You're trying to argue "ignorance isn't a form of defence" - If you are explicitly told by an FA representative that you can make 6 subs then that is their fault.

so if a ref tells you, that between the 80th and 90th minute you can bring on 20 players would you do it? if a mechanic told you that due to covid MOTs are not required this year but then you were found to not have one who is at blame? just because you believed them doesn't mean it was correct.

Exeter is at fault here, they need to read up on the rules and say to the 4th official (if that is true but I doubt it) that it is 5 subs not 6. it looks like to me Exeter forgot how many subs they made and are pinning it on the officials to save face. why would they let you put on a 6th but not us? surely if they let us bring sub on you would have been able to carry on in the cup.

we brought on an illegible player a few years back, is it the fault of the 4th official for not checking he was illegible?

all this says is "substitution procedure" says nothing about actually ensuring the subs are valid.

The FA does not make such quick decisions on rule breaches. That is the draw as it currently stands.
Do you accept that your extra substitute had an impact on the final outcome as Matt Taylor has confirmed that the subs made the difference?

 

Why not just have a penalty shoot out on Fifa 22 instead.

 

Or just play out the penalty shoot out online on FIFA 22.

The 6th substitute? Or all subs? The extra sub? Not really, he only was partly involved in the third goal. Of course our subs changed the game as a collective. Did your 5 subs change the game? The post was in jest, I put a winky face, obviously they haven't decided yet.

 

Further potential supporting evidence that we were mislead by the officials now has come to light, with the fourth official. Mr Whaley normally referees at National League South or below level. He would have definitely been an official at FA Cup qualifying rounds this season where clubs were allowed to field an additional sub in extra time. He's also from Plymouth and an Argyle fan so not sure why he was even allowed to officiate.

What? You really don't think you'll be given the tie surely? There's two options here, and neither have Bradford going through. We will go through and be fined, or we'll replay the tie back at SJP, probably on Dec 4th. That's the only thing that's clear here.

 

I find it very bizarre that the fourth official isnt expected to know the rules and the responsibility lies with the club.

This farce should be split responsibility between both. Exeter for trying it on and getting away with it, and the official for allowing a concussion sub to happen when no concussion took place.

ban the official and boot Exeter out of the cup and give up their prize money. Easy.

after that, stop pissing about changing the rules so often.

 

The tie should be decided on the XG, from before the illegal substitution was made.

 

I think it’s pretty clear the officials told both teams they could use 6 subs. That’s why it took about 20 hours to come to light that it was an issue as well. Otherwise why didn't Adams kick off on one at the time or after the match it is unlike him to be a shrinking violet.

 

We haven't tried anything 'on', we were explicitly told on numerous occasions we could use a sixth sub, as were Bradford, hence why they also tried to make a sixth sub. It's not rocket science. The FA representatives who's job it is to monitor who's on the pitch ballsed up and didn't realise until it was too late.
